Move of a large but delicate apparatus on a trailer with air-ride suspension [PDF]
When valuable delicate goods are shipped by truck, attention must be paid to vibrations that may cause damage. We present a case study of moving an extremely delicate 6230-kg superconducting magnet, immersed in liquid nitrogen, from Livermore, CA to ...

Moving live dissociated neurons with an optical tweezer [PDF]
The use of an optical tweezer for moving dissociated neurons was studied. The main features of the tweezers are outlined as well as the general principles of its operation.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Vibration Analysis of the Helical Gear System Using the Integrated Excitation Model
The vibration of the helical gear system is generated by three kinds of excitation. The first cause is a displacement excitation due to the tooth surface error.

Two span bridge under moving load [PDF]
The dynamic effect of the moving load on the bridge construction is the subject of the solution in this article. The bridge is modeled as two span continuous beam with two degrees of freedom. The assumption describing the dynamic deflection curve and the assumption describing the load distribution on individual lumped masses are adopted at the creation

Actin filaments growing against a barrier with fluctuating shape
We study force generation by a set of parallel actin filaments growing against a non-rigid obstacle, in presence of an external load. The filaments polymerize by either moving the whole obstacle, with a large energy cost, or by causing local distortion ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

The Problem of Moving Loads [PDF]
This chapter presents the special cases of loads with or without mass moving over a bridge structure. More specifically, the cases of concentrated loads and uniform loads are treated taken into account the effect of damping. Dynamic influence lines are presented for each case taking into account the effect of load mass as well.

Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.
