MPV promote adherence to nocturnal NIV in a Duchenne patient.

open access: yesActa myologica : myopathies and cardiomyopathies : official journal of the Mediterranean Society of Myology, 2020
We described a case of a patient 20 years old, affected by Duchenne dystrophy with obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome and severe nocturnal desaturation. He was not compliant to non-invasive ventilation (NIV) for claustrophobia and panic attacks. Mouthpiece ventilation was successfully used in this patient, who later accepted the nighttime NIV.

Preclinical Efficacy and Safety Evaluation of a Novel Controlled‐Expansion ePTFE‐Covered TIPS Stent in a Swine Model

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
This preclinical study evaluated a novel controlled‐expansion expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE)‐covered transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) stent in 11 swine, demonstrating 100% technical success, excellent deployability, and durable 6‐month angiographic patency without thrombosis, migration, fracture, or device‐related toxicity.

Bi‐level capacity planning for park IES considering energy supply reliability

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Carbon emissions and energy consumption of urban buildings represent a notable fraction of global energy utilization. In pursuit of the “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality” goals, urban park building integrated energy system (IES) energy saving technology is regarded as a key technology to achieve sustainable urban development.

Complete Genome Sequence and Biological Characterization of Moroccan pepper virus (MPV) and Reclassification of Lettuce necrotic stunt virus as MPV [PDF]

open access: yesPhytopathology®, 2013
Moroccan pepper virus (MPV) and Lettuce necrotic stunt virus (LNSV) have been steadily increasing in prevalence in central Asia and western North America, respectively, over the past decade. Recent sequence analysis of LNSV demonstrated a close relationship between the coat proteins of LNSV and MPV.

Towards the Development of a Conceptual Framework of the Determinants of Pre‐eclampsia: A Hierarchical Systematic Review of Biomarkers

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pre‐eclampsia is a leading cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. There are several determinants of individual pregnant women's risk of developing pre‐eclampsia, including biomarkers and ultrasound markers. Objective A conceptual framework to collate and summarise the extensive body of literature on biomarkers ...

Mean Platelet Volume (MPV), Platelet Distribution Width (PDW), Platelet Count and Plateletcrit (PCT) as predictors of in-hospital paediatric mortality: a case-control Study.

open access: yesAfrican Health Sciences, 2016
BACKGROUND Thrombocytopenia has been shown to predict mortality. We hypothesize that platelet indices may be more useful prognostic indicators. Our study subjects were children one month to 14 years old admitted to our hospital.

Drivers of Mouse Plagues: Exceptional Rainfall Following Prolonged Drought Triggers Mouse Plagues in Southeastern Australia

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study identified a specific sequence of an extended drought followed by exceptional rainfall as a necessary precursor for mouse plagues in southeastern Australia. Long‐term rainfall anomalies interact with ecological processes to reset population dynamics, creating conditions that support rapid mouse population growth following periods of ...

Minocycline and bone marrow–derived mononuclear cells as potential therapeutics for hereditary retinal degenerations

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To assess in Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) rats if the combination of two previously documented neuroprotective strategies: minocycline administration and bone marrow–derived mononuclear cells (BM‐MNCs) intravitreal transplantation, offers enhanced neuroprotection compared with each treatment alone.

Variation in Stabilization and Resuscitation Practices at Birth of Preterm Infants Among 12 National or Regional Neonatal Networks

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Neonatal resuscitation follows national or regional guidelines, but uptake varies in clinical practice. This study aimed to examine variations in reported delivery room practices for infants < 29 weeks' gestation across neonatal units in 12 networks of the International Network for Evaluating Outcomes in Neonates.

MPV in Uncontrolled & Controlled Diabetics- Its Role as an Indicator of Vascular Complication.

open access: yesJournal of clinical and diagnostic research : JCDR, 2016
INTRODUCTION Platelets are tiny, disc-shaped, non-nucleated structures derived from megakaryocytes. The morphological differences in measuring Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) and Platelet Distribution Width (PDW) of platelets have important implications for ...
