Cancer pattern in Bhutan (2014–2022): Findings from population‐based cancer registry—A pathway to monitor cancer control activities

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 11, Page 2829-2840, 1 June 2026.
What's new? The establishment in 2014 of the population‐based cancer registry (PBCR) of Bhutan created new opportunities for understanding national cancer trends, which previously were anticipated from data in neighbouring countries. This study presents the first nine‐year summary of cancer patterns in Bhutan, derived from PBCR data. From 2014 to 2022,

Open‐Source Multinuclear Low‐Field Preclinical MRI Scanner

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 6, June 2026.
A step‐by‐step guideline for the construction of an open‐source multinuclear low‐field MRI scanner for preclinical studies is presented together with the first images acquired with the device. The scanner can detect 1H, 23Na, hyperpolarized 13C, and 15N signals at 66 mT. ABSTRACT Low‐field MRI (B0 ≤ 0.2 T) is emerging as a technology with the potential

Data‐Driven Characterization of Knee Structures Using Non‐Negative Matrix Factorization of 3D Multi‐Echo UTE MRI

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 6, June 2026.
Non‐negative matrix factorization (NMF) can derive tissue features in a data‐driven manner without relying on biophysical model assumptions. First‐time application of NMF to 3D multi‐echo UTE knee MRI revealed four reproducible components associated with tissues of fast and slow transverse relaxation, water–fat mixture (chemical shift), and fat tissue.

Preclinical Quantitative In Vivo MRI Assessment of Exogenous Surfactant Pulmonary Distribution After Clinically Relevant Intratracheal Delivery

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 6, June 2026.
Quantitative in vivo contrast‐enhanced UTE MRI enables sensitive and precise mapping of pulmonary surfactant distribution, revealing peripheral localization and homogeneous distal penetration under physiological conditions. Comparison with ex vivo models highlights the role of physiological processes in surfactant retention.

Radiation Effects on Normal Brain in Subjects With Recurrent Glioblastoma by Spectroscopic MRI

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 6, June 2026.
Whole‐brain spectroscopic MRI in recurrent glioblastoma revealed modest, dose‐dependent metabolic changes in previously irradiated normal‐appearing brain. N‐acetylaspartate declined with increasing prior radiation dose, while choline changed minimally, producing a baseline rise in Cho:NAA. These findings support patient‐specific dose‐correction maps to
