Detection of Different Pesticide Residues in Seasonal Leafy Vegetables of North Bengal Region, Bangladesh

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
FTIR spectroscopy detected multiple pesticide residues—thiamethoxam, carbendazim, mancozeb + metalaxyl, and dimethoate—in commonly consumed leafy vegetables from North Bengal, Bangladesh. A Genetic Reporter for Visualizing Nitroreductase Activity Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2026.
We introduce a reporter gene technology to noninvasively visualize bacterial nitroreductase activity. Our method utilizes a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) reporter based on aquaporin, which is fused to a destabilizing domain, resulting in their degradation (off‐state).

Social Organisation Predicts Lifespan in Mammals

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Using Bayesian phylogenetic analyses of 1436 mammal species, we show that pair‐living and group‐living species have longer maximum lifespans than solitary species after accounting for body mass and phylogeny. Differences between pair‐ and group‐living species were small, and activity period showed weak associations.
