Abnormal IgG galactosylation and arthritis in MRL‐Faslpr or MRL‐FasLgld mice are under the control of the MRL genetic background

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 2001
MRL mice bearing the lpr (Fas) or gld (Fas ligand) mutation, MRL‐Faslpr or MRL‐FasLgld , respectively, develop arthritis similar to rheumatoid arthritis, but C3H and C57BL/6 mice bearing such mutations do not. In MRL‐Faslpr mice, agalactosylated oligosaccharides in serum IgG increase significantly in comparison to MRL‐+/+ mice without arthritis.

TWEAK/Fn14 Signaling Drives Oxidative Cardiac Injury in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Evidence From Patient Biomarker Studies, Lupus Mouse Models, and Cardiomyocyte Assays

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Cardiac involvement is a major cause of morbidity in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Tumor necrosis factor–like weak inducer of apoptosis (TWEAK) is elevated in SLE, but its contribution to lupus‐associated cardiac injury is unclear. We investigated the role of TWEAK/fibroblast growth factor–inducible 14 (Fn14) signaling in SLE‐related ...

Safety levels for organophosphate pesticide residues on fruits, vegetables, and nuts

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Contamination, 2019
A novel approach is developed to establish safety levels for organophosphate pesticides residues present in 80 fruit, vegetable, and nut commodities. These levels, known as Pesticide Safety Levels (PSL), represent the concentration of the organophosphate

Kidney Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cells Contribute to Myeloid Development and Pathology in Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective The hematopoietic system maintains homeostasis by balancing myeloid and lymphoid cell production in the bone marrow (BM). In response to increased hematopoietic demand, extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) may occur in nonlymphoid organs. We investigated the role of EMH and kidney‐resident hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) in ...

Voluntary consumption of cyclophosphamide by Mrl mice

open access: yesBrain, Behavior, and Immunity, 1989
Fluid-deprived, lupus-prone Mrl-lpr/lpr and congenic Mrl +/+ mice were provided with a single drinking bottle containing varying concentrations of cyclophosphamide (CY) dissolved in chocolate milk. Eighteen- and 20-week-old Mrl-lpr/lpr males with manifest symptoms of autoimmune disease voluntarily consumed more of the CY solution than Mrl +/+ mice of ...

The Tendon‐to‐Bone Seam: A Transtendinous Approach to Rotator Cuff Repair

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract This technique article describes the tendon‐to‐bone seam technique, a knotless, transtendinous approach to arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. The technique employs a single‐use deployment device preloaded with multiple PEEK anchors interconnected with a single polyethylene #2 suture, enabling the surgeon to create a continuous “seam” of ...

Elimination Profile of Deflazacort and Metabolites in Urine and Plasma Following Oral Administration: Relevance to Sports Drug Testing

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Results confirm that the MRL of 30 ng/mL for 21‐desacetyl‐deflazacort together with a 3‐day washout period is an appropriated strategy to detect oral deflazacort administration in sport competition. ABSTRACT Deflazacort (DEF) is a glucocorticoid prohibited in sports competitions when orally administered.

Genetically Engineered Nanobody–Recombinant Antibody Colloidal Gold Strip for Ultrasensitive Atrazine Detection in Fruits and Vegetables

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
A sensitive colloidal gold immunochromatographic assay for atrazine was successfully established using genetically engineered nanobody‐recombinant antibody, which overcame the shortcomings of traditional antigen‐antibody. ABSTRACT Colloidal gold immunochromatography (CG‐ICA) is distinguished by its cost‐effectiveness and rapid detection capabilities ...
