α1D-Adrenoceptors are responsible for the high sensitivity and the slow time-course of noradrenaline-mediated contraction in conductance arteries [PDF]
The objective of this study was to determine whether the different time-course characteristics of α1-adrenoceptor-mediated contraction in arteries can be related to the subtypes involved.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Combinatorial optimization of mRNA structure, stability, and translation for RNA-based therapeutics
The authors develop an RNA sequencing-based platform, PERSIST-seq, to simultaneously delineate in-cell mRNA stability, ribosome load, and in-solution stability of a diverse mRNA library to derive design principles for improved mRNA therapeutics.

mRNA produced by VSW-3 RNAP has high-level translation efficiency with low inflammatory stimulation
In vitro preparation of mRNA is a key step for mRNA therapeutics. The widely used T7 RNA polymerase (RNAP) was shown to have many by-products during in vitro transcription (IVT) process, among which double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) is the major by-product to ...

The prognostic impact of EGFR, ErbB2 and MET gene amplification in human gastric carcinomas as measured by quantitative Real-Time PCR [PDF]
Purpose: Identification of critical genes which play pivotal roles in controlling tumor growth and survival will establish the basis for developing therapeutic targets. In this study, we focused on frequencies of EGFR, ErbB2 and MET gene amplification in

The TRAIL-receptor-1: TRAIL-receptor-3 and -4 ratio is a predictor for TRAIL sensitivity of cancer cells [PDF]
The tumour necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a potent inducer of apoptosis in many cancer cells. However, a significant proportion of tumours are TRAIL-resistant erecting a major hurdle for a successful TRAIL-based treatment ...
