Tumor‐Derived LAMB3 Drives Immunosuppressive LRRC15+ Fibroblast Formation During Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A single‐cell atlas of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma development reveals progressive ductal‐fibroblast‐immune crosstalk. Tumor‐derived LAMB3 drives the formation of immunosuppressive LRRC15+ fibroblasts through the ITGB1/FAK/MAPK/FOSL2 signaling. Glycolytic reprogramming upregulates LAMB3 and correlates with LRRC15+ fibroblast enrichment.

A Microbial Lipid‐ATP Synthase Axis Fuels NK Cell Antitumor Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study focuses on the mechanism by which gut microbiota‐derived outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) regulate NK cell antitumor activity. B. intestinalis is identified to decrease extra‐intestinal tumor growth via its OMVs enriched in sphingosine (SP).

Membrane-Tethered Mucin-like Polypeptides Sterically Inhibit Binding and Slow Fusion Kinetics of Influenza A Virus

open access: yes, 2019
The mechanism(s) by which cell-tethered mucins modulate infection by Influenza A viruses (IAVs) remains an open question. Mucins form both a protective barrier that can block virus binding and recruit IAVs to bind cells via the sialic ...

Bmi-1 regulates mucin levels and mucin O-glycosylation in the submandibular gland of mice.

open access: yes, 2021
Mucins, the major components of salivary mucus, are large glycoproteins abundantly modified with O-glycans. Mucins present on the surface of oral tissues contribute greatly to the maintenance of oral hygiene by selectively adhering to the surfaces of ...

Epithelial TRIM27 Inhibits Intestinal Inflammation in Ulcerative Colitis by the USP7/TRIM27‐IKK Double Negative‐Feedback

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The E3 ubiquitin ligase tripartite motif 27 (TRIM27) is a negative regulator of NF‐κB activation and the innate immune response, and TRIM27 deficiency significantly impairs dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)‐induced colitis. The function of TRIM27 in intestinal epithelial cells (IECs), the mechanism by which TRIM27 inhibits the NF‐κB pathway and its

Amuc_1473 Links Gut Microbes to Skeletal Homeostasis and Counteracts Multifactorial Osteoporosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Amuc_1473, a previously uncharacterized protein enriched in Akkermansia muciniphila‐derived extracellular vesicles, is identified as a gut–bone messenger that promotes osteogenesis and inhibits osteoclastogenesis by engaging transcriptional and translational regulators in bone cells.

The biochemical and molecular characterisation of respiratory mucins in TB

open access: yes, 2006
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 96-112).The role of the dominant respiratory mucins (MUC5AC and MUC5B) and MUC2 has been investigated in chronic airway diseases as it is the mucin glycoprotein that confers upon mucus its biological ...

Intestinal Source Control of Lipid Metabolism by Enzyme‐Probiotic Encapsulated, Spatiotemporal Crosslinked, and Small Intestine‐Adhesive Hydrogel Microspheres

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A thiol‐modified alginate hydrogel microsphere‐encapsulated enzyme‐probiotic biohybrid (AKK‐COD) system has been developed to address the spatiotemporal delivery and colonization challenges of small intestine‐targeted probiotic for lipid metabolism regulation. The system exerts sequential functions of intragastric protection, small intestinal adhesion,

The isolation, purification, tissue localization and identification of a glycoprotein found in the crude mucus gel of patients with carcinoma of the stomach

open access: yes, 2008
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 101-138).The thin layer of crude mucus lining the human gastric mucosa protects the delicate gastric epithelium from the high shear forces associated with digestion. Gastric mucus is composed largely of water (>
