Galectin-1 binds mucin in human trophoblast
Histochemistry and Cell Biology, 2014Mucins are multifunctional highly glycosylated proteins expressed by the female reproductive tract. Differential expression of MUC1 and MUC15 has been shown in trophoblast. This study was undertaken to establish the distribution of mucin(s) in cytotrophoblast cell cultures using anti-bovine submaxillary mucin (BSM) and to investigate the possibility of

Aptamer-Gated Ion Channel for Ultrasensitive Mucin 1 Detection
Analytical Chemistry, 2021Detection of cancer markers is important for early diagnosis and timely treatment of cancer. In this study, we fabricated a tailorable gold nanofilm-anodized aluminum oxide (Au-AAO) ion channel through nanoparticle self-assembly and proposed a highly sensitive and selective Mucin 1 (MUC1) detection method.

MUC‐1 mucin expression in invasive areas of intraductal papillary mucinous tumors of the pancreas
Pathology International, 1998The expression of MUC‐1 mucin (membrane‐associated mucin) and MUG2 much (secretory mucin) were immunohistochemically examined in 46 invasive ductal carcinomas (IDC) and 16 intraductal papillary mucinous tumors (IPMT) of the pancreas. lntraductal papillary mucinous tumors usually reveal expansive growth.

Type 1 congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation (CCAM), the most frequent malformation of the lung, is the only type to present intracystic mucinous cell clusters, which may form beyond the cysts extracystic mucinous proliferation resembling mucinous bronchioloalveolar carcinomas (BACs).

MUC-1 Mucin Protein Expression in B-cell Lymphomas
Applied Immunohistochemistry & Molecular Morphology, 2003We have recently shown that MUC1, mapped to the chromosomal band 1q21, is rearranged or amplified in 15% of B-cell lymphomas and that rearrangement led to over-expression of MUC-1 mucin in a case of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). To determine the incidence of MUC-1 mucin expression and its clinical significance in B-cell lymphomas, we ...

Mucin-1-related T cell infiltration in colorectal carcinoma
Cancer Immunology, Immunotherapy, 1996Mucins (MUC) are highly glycosylated molecules widely expressed on epithelia of different origins, including colonic mucosa. Altered glycosylation processes in tumour cells result in the exposure of normally cryptic peptide epitopes, which may then be recognized as tumour-specific antigens.

Tim-1 Mucin Domain-Mutant Mice Display Exacerbated Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis, 2019Increasing evidence has shown that immune checkpoint molecules of the T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain (TIM) family are associated with diverse physiologic and pathologic pro- cesses. Previous studies investigating TIM-1 in atherosclerosis using anti- TIM-1 antibodies have yielded contradictory results.

Adherence of Shigella dysenteriae 1 to Human Colonic Mucin
Current Microbiology, 2001The pathogenic potential of Shigella is correlated with the ability of the organism to invade and multiply within the cells of colonic epithelium. Although invasion is the ultimate event, a preceding step is adherence. Shigella dysenteriae 1 preferentially adhered to colonic mucin and not to small intestinal mucin.

Designer Tridentate Mucin 1 Aptamer for Targeted Drug Delivery
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2012A single-stranded DNA aptamer (APT) capable of targeting mucin 1 (MUC1) extracellular protein was modified to increase its drug delivery specificity toward MUC1 overexpressing cancer cell line, MCF7. The active targeting region of APT was truncated and variable repeats (one, two, or three) of this sequence were synthesized. An aptamer formed from three
