Aluminium avoidance by Mucuna pruriens
Physiologia Plantarum, 1992The hypothesis was tested that the avoidance of acid subsoil by the velvet bean Mucuna pruriens is based on a mechanism acting on the whole root system rather than on individual roots. In a split‐root experiment with circulating nutrient solution the growth of plants with Al‐containing (+/+) or Al‐free (0/0) solution on both sides of the root system ...

Rapid micropropagation for Mucuna pruriens f. pruriens L.
Plant Cell Reports, 1995A rapid micropropagation system was developed for Mucuna pruriens f. pruriens using explants from 1-week-old aseptically grown seedlings. Multiple shoot regeneration occurred following an initial callus growth on Revised Tobacco (RT) medium supplemented with 2.7 μM NAA and 9.8 μM 2iP. Maximum number of shoot regeneration was achieved only from seedling

Analgesic and Antipyretic Effects of Mucuna Pruriens
International Journal of Pharmacognosy, 1993AbstractAlcohol Extracts Of Leaf and Fruit Trichome Of Mucuna Pruriens Dc, An African Traditional Plant, Were Screened For Analgesic and Antipyretic Activity In The Rat. The Extracts Were Administered By Gavage and Found To Increase The Pain Threshold and Decrease Body Temperature, When Pyrexia Was Induced By Injecting A Yeast Suspension.

Neuroprotective effects of the antiparkinson drug Mucuna pruriens
Phytotherapy Research, 2004AbstractMucuna pruriens possesses significantly higher antiparkinson activity compared with levodopa in the 6‐hydroxydopamine (6‐OHDA) lesioned rat model of Parkinson's disease. The present study evaluated the neurorestorative effect of Mucuna pruriens cotyledon powder on the nigrostriatal tract of 6‐OHDA lesioned rats.

Immunomodulation of Parkinson’s disease using Mucuna pruriens (Mp)
Journal of Chemical Neuroanatomy, 2017Immune control is associated with nigrostriatal neuroprotection for Parkinson's disease (PD); though its direct cause and effect relationships have not yet been realized and modulating the immune system for therapeutic gain has been openly discussed.

Boost Your Mood with Mucuna pruriens
Research Journal of Pharmacognosy and PhytochemistryMucuna pruriens, a tropical legume, has garnered attention for its therapeutic potential, particularly due to its high L-DOPA content, a precursor to the neurotransmitter dopamine. This review paper synthesizes current research on the pharmacological properties of Mucuna pruriens, emphasizing its application in treating neurological disorders such as ...
