Is Asthma Remission a New Achievable Goal? A Review of the Current Drug‐Related Evidence and Predictors

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 9, Page 3107-3129, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Advances in asthma therapies have shown that clinical remission may be an achievable therapeutic goal for patients with asthma. This review discusses the current definitions of remission in asthma, the predictors of remission, airway inflammation/epithelial damage in asthma remission, airway remodeling, paradigms in defining remission and ...

Effect of Dupilumab on Airway Inflammation in Patients With Persistent Asthma

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 9, Page 3261-3272, September 2026.
EXPEDITION (NCT02573233) assessed the effects of dupilumab on airway inflammation in patients with persistent asthma using bronchoscopy and gene expression analysis. Dupilumab showed no appreciable effect on inflammatory cell types in biopsies or BALF samples.

Targeting Airway Remodeling in Severe Asthma: Is There a Window of Opportunity for Biologic Therapy Predicting Effects Using Causal Artificial Intelligence?

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 9, Page 3157-3170, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Airway remodeling is increasingly recognized as a major determinant of asthma progression, fixed airflow limitation, and long‐term morbidity, particularly in severe disease. Although biologic therapies have transformed outcomes by reducing exacerbations and systemic corticosteroid exposure, their potential to modify structural airway ...

Antipredatory Strategies of Anurans: An Updated Conceptual Review

open access: yesEthology, Volume 132, Issue 9, Page 662-708, September 2026.
To unravel the evolutionary dynamics of predator–prey interactions, we propose an updated, three‐tiered classification of anuran antipredatory strategies. By mapping non‐behavioral, individual, and group defenses across five functional phases, this integrative framework introduces the concept of synergetic coupling.

Carbocisteine Reduces Airway Mucus Obstruction and Alters Inflammatory Cell Populations in a Model of Muco‐Obstructive Lung Disease

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, Volume 104, Issue 8, Page 833-844, September 2026.
Mice with a muco‐obstructive lung disease phenotype were treated with the mucoactive drug, carbocisteine, which resulted in reduced airway mucus and an alteration in the lung mononuclear cell population which was either as a direct effect of, or secondary to, improved mucus clearance.

Efficacy and Safety of Mechanical Insufflation–Exsufflation in Invasively Ventilated Critically Ill Adults: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesNursing in Critical Care, Volume 31, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Mechanical insufflation–exsufflation (MI–E) is increasingly used in invasively ventilated adults in the intensive care unit (ICU), yet its therapeutic efficacy and safety remain uncertain due to inconsistent evidence. Aim To synthesize evidence on the clinical efficacy and safety of MI–E in this population and to examine ...
