Compressibility Characteristics of Peat Soil Treated with MUF-P Resin [PDF]

open access: yesSolid State Phenomena, 2021
Peat is commonly described as a soil that is possess to high rate of compressibility due to present of high organic substance derived from plant origins. Peat soil naturally associated with settlement and consolidation characterized by its high initial void ratio, organic content and water holding capacity.

Effect of Melamine Content in MUF Resin on the Durable Properties of Plywood

open access: yesApplied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
The effect of melamine content in melamine modified urea formaldehyde (MUF) resin on durable properties of plywood was investigated using ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) with different melamine/urea (M/U) ratios. The plywood specimens were exposed to laboratory accelerated aging and/or cyclic soak-dry (SD).

Soybean meal‐based adhesive enhanced by MUF resin

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2012
AbstractSoybean meal flour, polyethylene glycol (PEG), sodium hydroxide (NaOH), and a melamine‐urea‐formaldehyde (MUF) resin were used to formulate soybean meal/MUF resin adhesive. Effects of the adhesive components on the water resistance and formaldehyde emission were measured on three‐ply plywood.

Colloidal aggregation of MUF polycondensation resins: Formulation influence and storage stability

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, 2003
AbstractColloidal particle formation followed by their clustering has been shown to be the normal way of ageing of aminoplastic resins, in particular melamine–urea–formaldehyde (MUF) resins. Ageing (or further advancement of the resin by other means such as longer condensation times) causes whitening of the resin.

Curing behavior of melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resin adhesive

International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 2015
Abstract In this work, MUF resin was tested by DMA method. It showed that G ′ curves and strain curves together could be used to predict the curing behavior of MUF resins. The study showed that sequential formulation was preferred for the preparation of MUF resins. Hardener could accelerate the curing of MUF resins.

A Soy Flour-Based Adhesive Reinforced by Low Addition of MUF Resin

Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2011
The desire to prepare a lower-cost soy-based adhesive has led to an interest in using the abundant and inexpensive soy flour (SF) as a substitute for expensive soy protein isolates (SPI) in wood adhesives. However, the weakness of this adhesive is poor water-resistance and bonding strength due to a low protein content, which limits its application in ...

A13C-NMR analysis method for MUF and MF resin strength and formaldehyde emission

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1996
SYNOPSIS A method based on the use of W-NMR relative peak intensity ratios for chemical groups known to contribute to melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) and melamine-formaldehyde (MF) resin strength and formaldehyde emission is presented. The method relates results obtained by 13C-NMR analysis of liquid MUF and MF resins with their strength and ...

Chemical composition of melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins assessed by near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 2019
Abstract Melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins are commonly used in the production of wood-based panels. The composition of the resin influences many properties of the final product. In industrial production, some properties, such as viscosity, pH, solid content, or molar ratio, are assessed after resin production in order to evaluate if they are ...
