Mechanical behavior and microstructures of aluminum processed by low strain amplitude multi-directional confined forging

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD) leads to grain refinement and strengthening of metals. Among the many SPD processing methods, Multi-Directional Forging (MDF) is the only one where in-situ material stress–strain curves can be obtained. These are adequate

Tribological Characterization of Commercial Pure Titanium Processed by Multi-Directional Forging [PDF]

open access: yesActa Metallurgica Sinica (English Letters), 2019
This work discusses tribological properties of commercial pure (CP) titanium processed by multi-directional forging (MDF) up to six passes at room temperature and 220 °C. For this purpose, wear test was conducted by dry sliding pin-on-disk method on the initial and ultrafine grained samples using different stress magnitudes of 1, 1.5 and 2 MPa.

Microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of AZ80 magnesium alloy during high-pass multi-directional forging

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
Severe plastic deformation (SPD) was carried out on AZ80 alloy by high-pass multi-directional forging (MDF). Results showed that AZ80 alloy was effectively refined through MDF, and average grain size was refined to 0.73 µm after 24 passes of forging. Its

Application of multi-directional forged titanium for prosthetic crown fabrication by CAD/CAM

open access: yesDental Materials Journal, 2021
Titanium are often used as dental materials, pure titanium present low strength and titanium alloy is reported poor biocompatibility, respectively. To overcome the problem, we fabricated high-strength multi-directional forged (MDF) titanium with improved mechanical properties without changing the chemical composition and evaluated its applicability in ...

Dynamic recrystallization mechanisms and twining evolution during hot deformation of Inconel 718 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The hot deformation behavior of an IN718 superalloy was studied by isothermal compression tests under the deformation temperature range of 950–1100 °C and strain rate range of 0.001–1 s-1 up to true strains of 0.05, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.7.

Collaborative simulation method with spatiotemporal synchronization process control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
When designing a complex mechatronics system, such as high speed trains, it is relatively difficult to effectively simulate the entire system’s dynamic behaviors because it involves multi-disciplinary subsystems.

Microstructure Evolution of AZ80 Magnesium Alloy during Multi-Directional Forging Process

open access: yesMATERIALS TRANSACTIONS, 2014
Grain refinement of a magnesium alloy, AZ80, was studied in multi-directional forging (MDF) with decreasing temperatures from 683 to 573K. The MDF was carried out up to accumulative true strains of around 7 with changing the loading direction from pass to pass.
