Epidemiological Study of Childhood Idiopathic Epilepsy from 1990 to 2021 at Global, Regional, and National Scales

open access: yesMayo Clinic Proceedings: Innovations, Quality & Outcomes
Objective: To address the long-term impact of childhood idiopathic epilepsy on health and families, and to provide epidemiological evidence for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies, this study aimed to explore the trends in incidence,

Topic Modeling Based Multi-modal Depression Detection

open access: yes, 2017
Major depressive disorder is a common mental disorder that affects almost 7% of the adult U.S. population. The 2017 Audio/Visual Emotion Challenge (AVEC) asks participants to build a model to predict depression levels based on the audio, video, and text ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Fast Multi-Modality Image Matching [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 1989
Automated image matching has important applications, not only in the fields of machine vision and general pattern recognition, but also in modern diagnostic and therapeutic medical imaging. Image matching, including the recognition of objects within images as well as the combination of images that represent the same object or process using different ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

HyperDense-Net: A hyper-densely connected CNN for multi-modal image segmentation

open access: yes, 2019
Recently, dense connections have attracted substantial attention in computer vision because they facilitate gradient flow and implicit deep supervision during training.

Molecular cancer prevention: Intercepting disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Oncological practice must evolve, from treating established tumours to proactive cancer interception before clinical manifestation. This will require mechanistic insight into tumour initiation, validated biomarkers of early disease development and redesigned clinical trials, enabling cancer interception to become a core pillar of oncology with the ...

Korean Tourist Spot Multi-Modal Dataset for Deep Learning Applications

open access: yesData, 2019
Recently, deep learning-based methods for solving multi-modal tasks such as image captioning, multi-modal classification, and cross-modal retrieval have attracted much attention. To apply deep learning for such tasks, large amounts of data are needed for

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
