Architecture‐Driven Functional Coupling in Vertically Aligned Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Vertically aligned nanocomposites define a growth‐engineered architecture in which vertical interfaces, strain fields, defect pathways, and phase connectivity are created simultaneously. This review shows how these architectural features couple ferroic, optical, ionic, electrochemical, and device responses, establishing design rules and open challenges

2D multi-parameter viscoelastic shallow-seismic full waveform inversion: reconstruction tests and first field-data application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
2D full-waveform inversion (FWI) of shallow-seismic wavefields has recently become a novel way to reconstruct S-wave velocity models of the shallow subsurface with high vertical and lateral resolution.

Covalent Functionalization of 2D Semiconductors: A Roadmap to Advanced Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Review presents recent advances in the covalent functionalization strategies for two‐dimensional semiconductors and their implementation in modern technologies. Layered materials are modified through diverse molecular chemistries (e.g., thiols, diazonium salts, alkyl halides, and electron‐deficient species) to tailor their surface properties ...

Nitride MXenes Beyond Carbides: Bridging the Gap Between Computational Prediction and Experimental Realization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nitride MXenes remain constrained by a persistent gap between computational prediction and experimental realization. This Review identifies the thermodynamic, kinetic, and chemical barriers limiting their synthesis, critically evaluates emerging fabrication routes, and proposes a multidimensional computational‐experimental framework to accelerate the ...

Full‐Field Damage Monitoring in Architected Lattices Using In situ Electrical Impedance Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ electrical impedance tomography (EIT) turns 3D‐printed, CNT‐infused architected lattices into full‐field damage‐imaging systems. Tunable Voronoi‐based geometries act as active sensing architectures, enabling conductivity maps to detect early‐stage damage and localise sequential ligament fracture before catastrophic failure.

Articulatory features for speech-driven head motion synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study investigates the use of articulatory features for speech-driven head motion synthesis as opposed to prosody features such as F0 and energy which have been mainly used in the literature.

Seismic inversion for elastic parameters in the ray-parameter domain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Seismic amplitude variation versus offset (AVO) inversion is widely used technology in reservoir geophysics, for estimating the elastic parameters of the Earth subsurface media.

Deep Learning-based Self-supervised Multi-parameter Inversion

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International
Summary The quantitative interpretation of geological structures relies on multi-parameter models (MPMs) inversion. However, conventional full waveform inversion that matches simulated seismic data to observed seismic data cannot accurately obtain high-resolution MPMs because of the implicit inter-parameter coupling relations in the ...

Drop‐on‐Demand Printed Negative Dielectric Anisotropy Liquid Crystal Droplets for Adaptive Complex Beam Manipulation and Assessment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Printed negative‐dielectric‐anisotropy liquid‐crystal droplets enable multidimensional full‐vectorial optical‐field sensing across polarization, phase, and wavelength, while also generating tunable skyrmionic‐like complex optical fields. ABSTRACT Adaptive manipulation of vectorial optical fields is important for optical metrology, imaging, and ...

Radiation pattern analyses for seismic multi-parameter inversion of HTI anisotropic media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In seismic waveform inversion, selecting an optimal multi-parameter group is a key step to derive an accurate subsurface model for characterising hydrocarbon reservoirs.
