In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Multi-scale time-stepping in molecular dynamics

open access: yes, 2017
We introduce a modified molecular dynamics algorithm that allows one to freeze the dynamics of parts of a physical system, and thus concentrate the simulation effort on selected, central degrees of freedom. This freezing, in contrast to other multi-scale

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Ultrasound-mediated piezoelectric differentiation of neuron-like PC12 cells on PVDF membranes

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Electrical and/or electromechanical stimulation has been shown to play a significant role in regenerating various functionalities in soft tissues, such as tendons, muscles, and nerves. In this work, we investigate the piezoelectric polymer polyvinylidene

Multi-Scale CLEAN deconvolution of radio synthesis images

open access: yes, 2008
Radio synthesis imaging is dependent upon deconvolution algorithms to counteract the sparse sampling of the Fourier plane. These deconvolution algorithms find an estimate of the true sky brightness from the necessarily incomplete sampled visibility data.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Enhance the water oxidation performance of electrodeposited Ni(OH)2 through structure modulation by glutamic acid

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications
Ni(OH)2 has been extensively studied as a promising electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). However, enhancing its OER properties is still required and challenging.

A Terahertz Polarizer Based on Multilayer Metal Grating Filled in Polyimide Film

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
Terahertz (THz) polarizers with low reflection and absorption loss and high polarization extinction ratio (PER) based on multilayer metallic gratings filled in a polyimide film were studied theoretically and experimentally.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.
