Nuclear polarization effects in spectra of multicharged ions
Physics Letters A, 1996Abstract We evaluate the nuclear-polarization energy shifts for one-electron 208 82 Pb and 238 92 U ions. In contrast to previous calculations, the effect of nuclear polarizability is found to be essentially of minor significance for high-precision measurements of the Lamb shift in heavy multicharged ions.

Low-power ion source for multicharged ions of krypton and xenon
International Journal of Mass Spectrometry and Ion Physics, 1971Abstract A magnetron ion source with axial ion extraction is described. The yield of the multicharged ions of xenon and krypton has been found to depend strongly on the magnetic field intensity, allowing simple regulation of the extracted beam composition.

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1996Various methods of metal ion production are presented with respect to multiply charged ion production. Depending on the ion source one or the other method is more commonly used. PIG ion sources for high charge states use mostly the sputtering technique for metal ions.
