Risks for human health related to the presence of plant lectins in food

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract The European Commission asked the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to assess the risk related to the presence of plant lectins in food. Based on the available evidence, the CONTAM Panel considered only phytohaemagglutinin (PHA), a legume lectin from beans (Phaseolus sp.), for the risk characterisation.

Selection of short Gadd45β‐binding peptides through a synergistic computational and biophysical approach

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract In this study, we explored the design of linear D‐tripeptides tailored to bind specific cavities of Gadd45β, chosen as a model protein target. To identify peptides that selectively interact with predicted binding sites, we combined computational modeling with biophysical experiments.

Investigations into the characterization, degradation, and applications of biodegradable polymers by mass spectrometry

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 44, Issue 6, Page 947-988, November/December 2025.
Abstract Biodegradable polymers have been getting more and more attention because of their contribution to the plastic pollution environmental issues and to move towards a circular economy. Nevertheless, biodegradable materials still exhibit various disadvantages restraining a widespread use in the market.

Electron recombination with multicharged ions via chaotic many-electron states

open access: yes, 2002
We show that a dense spectrum of chaotic multiply excited eigenstates can play a major role in collision processes involving many-electron multicharged ions.

Electrostatic Self‐Assembly of Ag‐NPs Mediated by Eu3+ Complexes for Physically Unclonable Function Labels

open access: yesAggregate, Volume 6, Issue 3, March 2025.
This study proposes a self‐assembly method using positively charged Eu3+ complexes and negatively charged Ag‐NPs to prepare Eu/Ag‐NP composites. These composites enhance the photoluminescent quantum yield and Raman signals, achieving high‐resolution signal acquisition. The resulting physically unclonable function (PUF) tags exhibit inherent randomness,

Determination of physicochemical parameters of (bio)molecules and (bio)particles by capillary electromigration methods

open access: yesJournal of Separation Science, Volume 47, Issue 11, June 2024.
The review provides an overview of recent developments and applications of capillary electromigration (CE) methods for the determination of important physicochemical parameters of various (bio)molecules and (bio)particles. These parameters include actual and limiting (absolute) ionic mobilities, effective electrophoretic mobilities, effective charges ...

Composition and Conformation of Hetero‐ versus Homo‐Fluorinated Triazolamers Influence their Activity on Islet Amyloid Polypeptide Aggregation

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 30, Issue 28, May 17, 2024.
While fluorinated molecules constitute nearly 30 % of all newly approved drugs, and peptidomimetic foldamers provide original solutions to resolve certain peptide problems, the interest of fluorinated foldamers is still little addressed. The conformational and biological interest of fluorinated triazolamers as an alternative to natural peptides is ...

Slow collisions of multicharged ions with metal surfaces

open access: yes, 1993
Some recent experimental results in the area of multicharged ion-surface interactions are summarized. Discussed are measurements of projectile K-Auger electron emission during interactions of hydrogen-like multicharged ions with clean and cesiated metal ...
