Polymer optical circuits for multimode optical fiber systems
Applied Optics, 1980Polymer optical waveguides for multimode optical fiber systems have been formed by the selective photopolymerization method, and their waveguiding properties have been investigated. It is shown that the polymer optical waveguides match multimode optical fiber systems, with respect to guide dimensions and index differences, and have a transmission loss ...

Multimode Optical Fibers for Optical Neural Interfaces
2021Although multiphoton microscopy enables optical control and monitoring of neural activity with single cells resolution over a depth of several hundreds of micrometers, the scattering nature of the brain tissue requires implantable optical neural interfaces to access subcortical structures.

Optical switch for multimode optical-fiber systems
Optics Letters, 1979A new type of optical switch is constructed of graded-index rod lenses. It is operated mechanically by small electromagnets. This switch is compatible with practical multimode-fiber communication systems. It has many outstanding features, such as low insertion loss (1.3–1.4 dB), low crosstalk ( 2 × 106 times), and small size (40 × 50 × 25 mm3).

Multimode Fiber-Optic Accelerometers
SPIE Proceedings, 1984A basic system is described, using a mechanically modulated reflected signal and a reference signal generated by photoluminescence for compensation of optical intensity variations. Three sensor designs are presented, two using geometrical effects and one using interferometric modulation of the signal.
