Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Study on the Effect of Cracking Parameters on the Migration Characteristics of Chloride Ions in Cracked Concrete

open access: yesBuildings
In engineering, concrete often develops cracks due to various reasons, which accelerate the erosion rate of chloride ions in concrete and consequently expedite the degradation of the mechanical properties of concrete structures. This study simplifies the

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Numerical solution of stress intensity factors of multiple cracks in great number with eigen COD boundary integral equations

open access: yes, 2013
Based on the eigen crack opening displacement (COD) boundary integral equations, a newly developed computational approach is proposed for the analysis of multiple crack problems.

Burst pressure prediction of multiple cracks in pipelines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Available industrial code such as ASME B1G, modified ASME B1G and DNV RP- F101 to assess pipeline defects appear more conservative for multiple crack like- defects than single crack-like defects.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

A new adaptable multiple-crack detection algorithm in beam-like structures

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2013
In this article, a simple method for detecting, localizing and quantifying multiple cracks in beams using natural frequencies is presented. We model cracks as rotational springs and demonstrate a relationship among natural frequencies, crack locations ...
