The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Fast hyperbolic Radon transform represented as convolutions in log-polar coordinates

open access: yes, 2016
The hyperbolic Radon transform is a commonly used tool in seismic processing, for instance in seismic velocity analysis, data interpolation and for multiple removal.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Characteristic Function of Time-Inhomogeneous L\'evy-Driven Ornstein-Uhlenbeck Processes

open access: yes, 2016
Distributional properties -including Laplace transforms- of integrals of Markov processes received a lot of attention in the literature. In this paper, we complete existing results in several ways.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

A novel multi-input/multi-output fuzzy logic controller based on golden eagle optimization for solar energy conversion system

open access: yesJournal of Electrical Systems and Information Technology
In the future, renewable energies will be the driving force that transforms the world. Solar energy technology, including both photovoltaic and solar thermal, can be combined into one unit called hybrid photovoltaic thermal (PVT).

Comparisons of the execution times and memory requirements for high-speed discrete fourier transforms and fast fourier transforms, for the measurement of AC power harmonics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Conventional wisdom dictates that a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) will be a more computationally effective method for measuring multiple harmonics than a Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) approach.

Formalization of Transform Methods using HOL Light

open access: yes, 2017
Transform methods, like Laplace and Fourier, are frequently used for analyzing the dynamical behaviour of engineering and physical systems, based on their transfer function, and frequency response or the solutions of their corresponding differential ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Weighted bounds for multilinear operators with non-smooth kernels

open access: yes, 2015
Let $T$ be a multilinear integral operator which is bounded on certain products of Lebesgue spaces on $\mathbb R^n$. We assume that its associated kernel satisfies some mild regularity condition which is weaker than the usual H\"older continuity of those
