Three nontrivial solutions for the p-Laplacian Neumann problems with a concave nonlinearity near the origin

open access: yes, 2010
We consider a nonlinear Neumann problem driven by the p- Laplacian, with a right-hand side nonlinearity which is concave near the origin. Using variational techniques, combined with the method of upper-lower solutions and with Morse theory, we show ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Exploring the design and perceived benefit of sustainable solutions: a review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The demand for more innovative solutions to meet progressively complex consumer requirements is increasingly at the forefront of design practice and research.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Critical Threshold and Stability of Cluster Solutions for Large Reaction-Diffusion Systems in R

open access: yes, 2002
We study a large reaction-diffusion system which arises in the modeling of catalytic networks and describes the emerging of cluster states. We construct single cluster solutions on the real line and then establish their stability or instability in

Multiple solutions for a discrete anisotropic (p_1(k),p_2(k))-Laplacian equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2015
This article concerns the existence and multiplicity solutions for a discrete Dirichlet Laplacian problems. Our technical approach is based on variational methods.

On some variational algebraic problems

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis, 2013
In this paper by exploiting critical point theory, the existence of two distinct nontrivial solutions for a nonlinear algebraic system with a parameter is established.

ON THE MULTIPLICITY OF PERIODIC SOLUTIONS OF AN HAMILTONIAN SYSTEM

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 2002
By using a variational method based on a generalized saddle point theorem, the author proves the existence of multiple periodic solutions of nonautonomous Hamiltonian systems with bounded gradient of the type \(J\dot x+H'(t,x)+e(t)=0\), where \(H\in C(\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}^{2N},\mathbb{R})\) is periodic in \(t,x\) and continuously differentiable ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

MULTIPLE OPTIMAL SOLUTIONS IN QUADRATIC PROGRAMMING MODELS

open access: yes
The problem of determining whether quadratic programming models possess either unique or multiple optimal solutions is important for empirical analyses which use a mathematical programming framework.
