The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Exact and approximate stepdown methods for multiple hypothesis testing [PDF]

open access: yes
Consider the problem of testing k hypotheses simultaneously. In this paper, we discuss finite and large sample theory of stepdown methods that provide control of the familywise error rate (FWE).

Predictive Power Analysis of Multiple Test Procedures Under Arbitrary Dependence

open access: yesStats
Many statistical problems can be addressed by applying a multiple testing procedure (MTP) that controls either the Family-Wise Error Rate (FWER) or False Discovery Rate (FDR) under unknown arbitrarily interdependent p-values, without explicitly modeling ...

Flavor Quality of Different Aroma Types of Anxi Huangjingui Tea [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
In this study, sensory evaluation, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) and headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) coupled with gas chromatography-mass ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Testing agreement among multiple raters

open access: yesStatistica, 2007
The aim of this paper is to propose a procedure for testing chance agreement among multiple raters which is based on a X2 statistic. The main advantage of using the X2 test statistic is that it has a well-known limit distribution when either the number ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Constructing multiple unique input/output sequences using metaheuristic optimisation techniques

open access: yes, 2005
Multiple unique input/output sequences (UIOs) are often used to generate robust and compact test sequences in finite state machine (FSM) based testing. However, computing UIOs is NP-hard.
