Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Improper Integrals on Time Scales

open access: yes, 2003
In this paper we study improper integrals on time scales. We also give some mean value theorems for integrals on time scales, which are used in the proof of an analogue of the classical Dirichlet-Abel test for improper ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Multiple Positive Solutions for m-Point Boundary Value Problem on Time Scales

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2011
The purpose of this article is to establish the existence of multiple positive solutions of the dynamic equation on time scales , subject to the multi-point boundary condition , where is an increasing homeomorphism and satisfies the relation for

On multiplicity of solutions of a superlinear equation on time scales* [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Difference Equations and Applications, 2007
We prove the existence of infinitely many stationary solutions of a nonlinear one-dimensional superlinear equation on time scales using a Lusternik-Schnirelmann type result.

Mixed-mode oscillations with multiple time scales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Mixed-mode oscillations (MMOs) are trajectories of a dynamical system in which there is an alternation between oscillations of distinct large and small amplitudes.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Data-Based Parametrization for Affine GARCH Models Across Multiple Time Scales—Roughness Implications

open access: yesEconometrics
This paper revisits the topic of time-scale parameterizations of the Heston–Nandi GARCH (1,1) model to create a new, theoretically valid setting compatible with real financial data.

Using Virtual Reaction Scheme in the Multiple Time Scales System for Stochastic Modelling

open access: yesApplications of Modelling and Simulation, 2021
A virtual reaction scheme and the notion of quasi-independent is proposed in this paper to assist in model partitioning for the biochemical reactions with multiple time scales.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.
