Multiplexity-facilitated cascades in networks [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2012
Elements of networks interact in many ways, so modeling them with graphs requires multiple types of edges (or network layers). Here we show that such multiplex networks are generically more vulnerable to global cascades than simplex networks. We generalize the threshold cascade model [D. J. Watts, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. CS-MLGCN: Multiplex Graph Convolutional Networks for Community Search in Multiplex Networks

open access: yesProceedings of the 31st ACM International Conference on Information & Knowledge Management, 2022
Community Search (CS) is one of the fundamental tasks in network science and has attracted much attention due to its ability to discover personalized communities with a wide range of applications. Given any query nodes, CS seeks to find a densely connected subgraph containing query nodes.

Cluster-based topological features of nodes in a multiplex network—from a network of networks perspective

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
In the gathered multiplex systems, nodes inherit a part of their original system’s topological features, as in the world economic system, national policies and resource distribution bring industry advantages and resource advantages to the domestic ...

Multiplex Network Structure Enhances the Role of Generalized Reciprocity in Promoting Cooperation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In multi-agent systems, cooperative behavior is largely determined by the network structure which dictates the interactions among neighboring agents. These interactions often exhibit multidimensional features, either as relationships of different types ...

Mapping multiplex hubs in human functional brain network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Typical brain networks consist of many peripheral regions and a few highly central ones, i.e. hubs, playing key functional roles in cerebral inter-regional interactions.

Cooperative epidemics on multiplex networks [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2016
The spread of one disease, in some cases, can stimulate the spreading of another infectious disease. Here, we treat analytically a symmetric coinfection model for spreading of two diseases on a two-layer multiplex network. We allow layer overlapping, but we assume that each layer is random and locally loopless.

Shortest Paths in Multiplex Networks [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
AbstractThe shortest path problem is one of the most fundamental networks optimization problems. Nowadays, individuals interact in extraordinarily numerous ways through their offline and online life (e.g., co-authorship, co-workership, or retweet relation in Twitter). These interactions have two key features.

Origin of the mixed-order transition in multiplex networks: the Ashkin-Teller model

open access: yes, 2014
Recently, diverse phase transition (PT) types have been obtained in multiplex networks, such as discontinuous, continuous, and mixed-order PTs. However, they emerge from individual systems, and there is no theoretical understanding of such PTs in a ...

Representation Learning for Attributed Multiplex Heterogeneous Network

open access: yes, 2019
Network embedding (or graph embedding) has been widely used in many real-world applications. However, existing methods mainly focus on networks with single-typed nodes/edges and cannot scale well to handle large networks. Many real-world networks consist
