The photosystem I assembly apparatus consisting of Ycf3–Y3IP1 and Ycf4 modules
Photosystem I is a large multiprotein complex embedded in the chloroplast thylakoid membrane. Here the authors provide evidence for a modular assembly process, whereby Ycf3 facilitates assembly of the reaction center, while Ycf4 incorporates peripheral ...

An important role for Myb-MuvB and its target gene KIF23 in a mouse model of lung adenocarcinoma [PDF]
The conserved Myb-MuvB (MMB) multiprotein complex has an important role in transcriptional activation of mitotic genes. MMB target genes are overexpressed in several different cancer types and their elevated expression is associated with an advanced ...

The characterization of Mediator 12 and 13 as conditional positive gene regulators in Arabidopsis
Mediator is a multiprotein complex required to activate gene transcription by RNAPII. Here, the authors report that MED12 and MED13 are conditional positive regulators that facilitate the expression of genes depleted in active chromatin marks and the ...

The trigger for pancreatic disease: NLRP3 inflammasome
NLRP3 inflammasome is a multiprotein complex expressed in a variety of cells to stimulate the production of inflammatory factors. Activation of NLRP3 inflammasome depends on a complex regulatory mechanism, and its pro-inflammatory function plays an ...

Improved arteriogenesis with simultaneous skeletal muscle repair in ischemic tissue by SCL plus multipotent adult progenitor cell clones from peripheral blood [PDF]
Background: The CD34- murine stem cell line RM26 cloned from peripheral blood mononuclear cells has been shown to generate hematopoietic progeny in lethally irradiated animals.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the potassium channel KCNJ2 on asthma development. KCNJ2 promotes NLRP3 inflammasome activation through both Ca2+ influx and K+ efflux in airway epithelial cells, which drives allergic airway inflammation and remodeling, suggesting a promising therapeutic target for asthma.

Multiprotein GLI Transcriptional Complexes as Therapeutic Targets in Cancer
The Hedgehog signaling pathway functions in both embryonic development and adult tissue homeostasis. Importantly, its aberrant activation is also implicated in the progression of multiple types of cancer, including basal cell carcinoma and medulloblastoma.

A Molecular Basis for Stabilization of the von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) Tumor Suppressor Protein by Components of the VHL Ubiquitin Ligase [PDF]
The multiprotein von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) tumor suppressor (CBCVHL, Cul2-Elongin BC-VHL) and SCF (Skp1-Cul1/Cdc53-F-box protein) complexes are members of structurally related families of E3 ubiquitin ligases that use a heterodimeric module composed of a ...

A targeted metabologenomic strategy integrating genomic and metabolomic hallmarks enabled the discovery of two new thioamides, thiogochangamides A and B, from bacteria. Their absolute configurations, previously unresolved within the thioviridamide family, were fully assigned through various chemical derivatizations and computational analysis ...
