The production of multiprotein complexes in insect cells using the baculovirus expression system
The production of a homogeneous protein sample in sufficient quantities is an essential prerequisite not only for structural investigations but represents also a rate-limiting step for many functional studies.

Basement membrane (BM) homeostasis relies on a balance between integrity, controlled remodelling and pathological degradation. Increased protease expression beneath the BM, along with reduced levels of endogenous protease inhibitors, drives the transition from a continuous, protective barrier to a discontinuous interface.

Mutations in the PKD1 gene are responsible for >85% of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). The protein product of PKD1, polycystin-1, is a large, modular membrane protein, with putative ligand-binding motifs in the extracelluar N ...

Systemwide disassembly and assembly of SCF ubiquitin ligase complexes
Cells respond to environmental cues by remodeling their inventories of multiprotein complexes. Cellular repertoires of SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F box protein) ubiquitin ligase complexes, which mediate much protein degradation, require CAND1 to distribute the ...

Epigenetic Regulation in the Pathogenesis of Periodontitis
The aim of this narrative literature review was to identify epigenetic marks associated with periodontitis and to place them in a biological context. The literature was reviewed based on pre‐defined criteria. Cell type specific chromatin and mRNA modifications were included.

The role of amyloid precursor proteins : studies using neurons generated from wild-type and mutant embryonic stem cells [PDF]
Alzheimer′s Disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disorder in elderly people. It is becoming an ever larger problem due to prolonged life-expectancies in developed countries.

CNGCs in Marchantia paleacea uncouple arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis and rhizoid development
Rhizoid growth and AM fungal infection are uncoupled. Summary In Marchantia paleacea, MpaDMI1‐dependent nuclear Ca2+ oscillations are essential for arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungal colonisation, indicating that endosymbiosis‐mediated nuclear Ca2+ signalling is a conserved feature of land plant–AM symbiosis.
