The Sample, the Spectra and the Maths—The Critical Pillars in the Development of Robust and Sound Applications of Vibrational Spectroscopy

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The last two decades have witnessed an increasing interest in the use of the so-called rapid analytical methods or high throughput techniques. Most of these applications reported the use of vibrational spectroscopy methods (near infrared (NIR), mid ...

On Weighted Multivariate Sign Functions

open access: yes, 2020
Multivariate sign functions are often used for robust estimation and inference. We propose using data dependent weights in association with such functions.

Multivariate dynamic kernels for financial time series forecasting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The final publication is available at http://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-319-44781-0_40We propose a forecasting procedure based on multivariate dynamic kernels, with the capability of integrating information measured at different frequencies ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Visible Near-Infrared Spectroscopy and Pedotransfer Function Well Predict Soil Sorption Coefficient of Glyphosate

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
The soil sorption coefficient (Kd) of glyphosate mainly controls its transport and fate in the environment. Laboratory-based analysis of Kd is laborious and expensive.

Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

ecp: An R Package for Nonparametric Multiple Change Point Analysis of Multivariate Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
There are many different ways in which change point analysis can be performed, from purely parametric methods to those that are distribution free. The ecp package is designed to perform multiple change point analysis while making as few assumptions as ...

Evaluation of in vitro toxicity of common phytochemicals included in weight loss supplements using 1H NMR spectroscopy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the toxicity of 12 active compounds commonly found in herbal weight loss supplements (WLS) using human liver and colon cell models. Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate was the only compound showing significant toxicity. Metabolic profiling revealed protein degradation, disrupted energy and lipid metabolism suggesting that the inclusion of EGCG ...

Multivariate analysis of microarray data: differential expression and differential connection

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2011
Background Typical analysis of microarray data ignores the correlation between gene expression values. In this paper we present a model for microarray data which specifically allows for correlation between genes. As a result we combine gene network ideas
