Striatal Cholinergic Interneurons Control Physical Nicotine Withdrawal via Muscarinic Receptor Signaling

The role of striatal cholinergic interneurons in nicotine withdrawal is explored. Inhibition of striatal cholinergic interneurons (ChIs) ameliorated nicotine‐dependent alterations in striatal neural population activity, nicotine withdrawal‐induced deficit in striatal dopamine release, and physical nicotine withdrawal.
