Gap junctions in vascular smooth muscle
Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1998Gap junction channels are the only class of channels which span two closely apposed plasma membranes. There are over a dozen identified subunit proteins or connexins. Three generic types of gap junction channels are possible. They are the homotypic, heterotypic and heteromeric types, each of which has a distinct connexin distribution.

Angiotensin on Vascular Smooth Muscle
1974Angiotensin is a potent agonist that causes contraction of vascular smooth muscle. The resultant vasoconstriction in the intact organism has important physiological and pathophysiological implications which are reflected in a number of recent reviews (Peart, 1965; Gross et al., 1968; Somlyo and Somlyo, 1970).
