Transoral Robotic Surgery for Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Glossotonsillar Sulcus Involvement Conveys an Unfavorable Oncological Outcome

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) is widely used in management of early‐stage primary oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC). Tumors involving the glossotonsillar sulcus (GTS) are hypothesized to confer worse oncological outcomes compared to those situated in the rest of the oropharynx, with a paucity of evidence to support ...

Pelvic venous disorders in women: Diagnosis and management for gynecologists

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Pelvic venous disorders (PeVD) are an underrecognized yet significant cause of chronic pelvic pain (CPP) in reproductive‐aged women, characterized by venous reflux, obstruction, or both. This clinical opinion provides a practical overview of PeVD for gynecologists, outlining its pathophysiology, common presentations, diagnostic approach, and ...

Maternal and infant gut microbiome

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
The maternal–infant continuum involves critical windows of host–microbiota co‐adaptation. Preconception, maternal and paternal microbiomes modulate immunity and reproduction. During pregnancy, a gut–placenta axis emerges, where microbial metabolites influence fetal growth or contribute to complications like gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM ...

S100A9 promotes pulmonary arterial hypertension by regulating mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum interaction‐mediated inflammatory injury of endothelial cells

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Macrophage‐derived S100 calcium‐binding protein A9 (S100A9) promotes the pathological progression of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). S100A9 upregulates the interaction between signal‐transducing adaptor protein 2 and leucine‐rich repeat kinase 2, thereby regulating mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum (ER) contact.
