Analysis of RFID Mutual Authentication Protocols

2009 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2009
In order to secure RFID transactions, an authentication scheme has originally been included as part of the "EPC Gen2" industrial standard. This scheme, however, has been found to have some weaknesses. To overcome such weaknesses, some authors have proposed new schemes to improve its security.

SMAP: Simple Mutual Authentication Protocol

2007 IEEE 18th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2007
RFID systems aim at identifying objects in a wide variety of environments without any contact between tags that hold identities and readers. In order to secure RFID systems as much as possible, most solutions do not only require tags to authenticate themselves to readers, but they also require readers to authenticate themselves to tags to avoid ...

Distance Bounding Protocol for Mutual Authentication

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2011
A distance bounding protocol enables one party to determine a practical upper bound on the distance to another party. It is an effective countermeasure against mafia fraud attacks (a.k.a. relay attacks) which do not alter messages between users but only relay messages. The main idea of distance bounding protocols is to repeat fast bit exchanges.

Mutual Authentication with TLS

2014
Transport Layer Security (TLS) mutual authentication, also known as client authentication or two-way Secure Socket Layer (SSL), is part of the TLS handshake process. In one-way TLS, only the server proves its identity to the client; this is mostly used in e-commerce to win consumer confidence by guaranteeing the legitimacy of the e-commerce vendor.

Mutual Biometric Authentication

2007
This article addresses another severe threat affecting the security of cellular systems, called pilot aliasing attack. This problem occurred due to pilot code reuse among different cellular carriers.

Protocol of Secure Mutual Authentication

2007 IEEE SMC Information Assurance and Security Workshop, 2007
The paper discusses the peculiarities of modern information systems, problems with traditional authentication protocols and introduces a new authentication protocol that allows transparent secure authentication in dynamic distributed information systems.

Modelling Simultaneous Mutual Authentication for Authenticated Key Exchange

2014
Most recent security models for authenticated key exchange (AKE) do not explicitly model the entity authentication, which enables a party to identify its communication peer in specific session. However, it is quite necessary in many real-world applications and is a general way to enhance the security of AKE protocols.

Privacy enhanced mutual authentication in LTE

2013 IEEE 9th International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Computing, Networking and Communications (WiMob), 2013
In this paper we propose a way to enhance the identity privacy in LTE/LTE-Advanced systems. This is achieved while minimizing the impact on the existing E-UTRAN system. This is important since proposals to modify a widely deployed infrastructure must be cost effective, both in terms of design changes and in terms of deployment cost.

Agent-host mutual authentication

Proceedings IEEE Southeastcon'99. Technology on the Brink of 2000 (Cat. No.99CH36300), 2003
As an alternative to the present client/server applications on the Internet, researchers in universities and industry are trying to define a secure agent infrastructure which can protect both the agent and the agent place (server, ducking place). The main advantage of the agent is that it can move (roam) on the Internet searching for answers for the ...
