Canonical and non‐canonical functions of proteins regulating mitochondrial dynamics in mammalian physiology

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles that continuously remodel their architecture through coordinated cycles of fusion and fission. This review examines the four key GTPases that orchestrate mitochondrial dynamics in mammals: MFN1, MFN2, OPA1, and DRP1.

Real‐World Management of Difficult Exacerbations of Bronchiectasis: A Case Study to Illustrate How Guidelines Can Support Best Practice

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Timely management of exacerbations and optimisation of ongoing care are vital in preventing disease progression and preserving outcomes and quality of life in patients with bronchiectasis. This retrospective case review underscores the importance of the new ERS guidelines in supporting multidisciplinary teams to provide optimal care for their ...

Cavitary Pulmonary Adenocarcinoma in a Young Adult With a History of Treated Hodgkin Lymphoma: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Cavitary lung lesions are commonly attributed to infection; however, malignancy should remain a diagnostic consideration. We report a 30‐year‐old non‐smoking man with a history of treated Hodgkin lymphoma who presented with a cavitary pulmonary adenocarcinoma. This case highlights the importance of considering rare malignant causes.

Severe Pediatric MOGAD‐Associated ADEM With Persistent Neurological Morbidity and Later‐Onset Epilepsy of Uncertain Etiology: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT This report describes a 7‐year‐old boy with MOGAD presenting as severe ADEM with fever, encephalopathy, seizures, markedly elevated intracranial pressure, diffuse multifocal MRI abnormalities, and serum MOG‐IgG positivity. He required intravenous corticosteroids, plasma exchange, IVIG, and tocilizumab, followed by rehabilitation and ...

Genetic Diversity of PCR-Positive, Culture-Negative and Culture-Positive Mycobacterium ulcerans Isolated from Buruli Ulcer Patients in Ghana. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Culture of Mycobacterium ulcerans from Buruli ulcer patients has very low sensitivity. Thus confirmation of M. ulcerans infection is primarily based on PCR directed against IS2404.

Accuracy of cell-free Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA testing in pleural effusion for diagnosing tuberculous pleurisy: a multicenter cross-sectional study

open access: yesMilitary Medical Research
Background The diagnosis of tuberculous pleurisy (TP) presents a significant challenge due to the low bacterial load in pleural effusion (PE) samples. Cell-free Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA (cf-TB) in PE samples is considered an optimal biomarker for ...

Novel Pyrazole‐4‐Carbaldehyde Derivatives Having Potent COX‐2 Inhibition and Anti‐Tubercular Activity: Microwave‐Assisted Green Synthesis and Molecular Docking

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT A series of 1‐(4‐Chorophenyl)‐3Aryl‐1‐H‐pyrazole‐4‐carbaldehyde derivatives were synthesized under the microwave irradiation (MW) technique. IR, 1H‐NMR, 13C‐NMR, and mass spectroscopic techniques were used to confirm the structure of the synthesized compounds.
