'Perfectly' curvilinear profiles for binding as determined by ITC may in fact be multiphasic [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
In a structural analysis of the proteasome activator PafE in Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the binding of the activator or shorter constructs to the 20S proteasome core particle (20S CP) or derivatives was measured by isothermal titration calorimetry (Bai et al. Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 113: E1983-E1992. 2016).

Effects of Serial Skin Testing with Purified Protein Derivative on the Level and Quality of Antibodies to Complex and Defined Antigens in Mycobacterium bovis-Infected Cattle

open access: yesClinical and Vaccine Immunology, 2015
Several serological tests designed to detect antibodies to immunodominant Mycobacterium bovis antigens have recently emerged as ancillary tests for the detection of bovine tuberculosis in cattle, particularly when used after the injection of purified ...

The variability and seasonality of the environmental reservoir of Mycobacterium bovis shed by wild European badgers

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2015
The incidence of Mycobacterium bovis, the causative agent of bovine tuberculosis, has been increasing in UK cattle herds resulting in substantial economic losses. The European badger (Meles meles) is implicated as a wildlife reservoir of infection.

Bovine tuberculosis in African buffaloes: observations regarding Mycobacterium bovis shedding into water and exposure to environmental mycobacteria

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2007
Background African buffaloes are the maintenance host for Mycobacterium bovis in the endemically infected Kruger National Park (KNP). The infection is primarily spread between buffaloes via the respiratory route, but it is not known whether shedding of M.

Biodegradation of 2-ethylhexyl nitrate (2-EHN) by Mycobacterium austroafricanum IFP 2173 [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology 74 (2008) 6187-6193, 2009
2-Ethyhexyl nitrate (2-EHN) is a major additive of fuel which is used to comply with the cetane number of diesel. Because of its wide use and possible accidental release, 2-EHN is a potential pollutant of the environment. In this study, Mycobacterium austroafricanum IFP 2173 was selected among several strains as the best 2-EHN degrader.

Trends of Mycobacterium bovis Isolation and First-Line Anti-tuberculosis Drug Susceptibility Profile: A Fifteen-Year Laboratory-Based Surveillance

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2015
Background Mycobacterium tuberculosis causes the majority of tuberculosis (TB) cases in humans; however, in developing countries, human TB caused by M. bovis may be frequent but undetected. Human TB caused by M.

Challenges of bovine tuberculosis control and genetic distribution in Africa

open access: yesBiomedical and Biotechnology Research Journal, 2019
Bovine tuberculosis (BTB), caused by Mycobacterium bovis(M. bovis); a member of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC), is a well-known zoonotic disease, which affects mainly cattle.

Pulmonary Mycobacterium bovis BCG Vaccination Confers Dose-Dependent Superior Protection Compared to That of Subcutaneous Vaccination

open access: yesClinical and Vaccine Immunology, 2014
Worldwide, the Mycobacterium bovis BCG vaccine is one of the most widely used vaccines. However, it appears to be ineffective in preventing pulmonary tuberculosis.

A Pilot Study Exploring the Use of Breath Analysis to Differentiate Healthy Cattle from Cattle Experimentally Infected with Mycobacterium bovis

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Bovine tuberculosis, caused by Mycobacterium bovis, is a zoonotic disease of international public health importance. Ante-mortem surveillance is essential for control; however, current surveillance tests are hampered by limitations affecting ease of use ...
