Myo-inositol content of common foods: development of a high-myo-inositol diet
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1980Since virtually no information is available concerning the myo-inositol content of dietary constituents, we have measured the amount of this material present in 487 foods by gas-liquid chromatography. We observed that the greatest amounts of myo-inositol were present in fruits, beans, grains, and nuts.

The total synthesis of myo-inositol phosphates via myo-inositol orthoformate
Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 1, 1989Novel selective alkylations of myo-inositol orthoformate (4) have been used to prepare a series of protected myo-inositol derivatives, (5a–e), (7), (10), (12), and (16). These intermediates have been used in efficient total syntheses of myo-inositol 2-phosphate, (9); myo-inositol 4-phosphate, (6); myo-inositol 1,3-bisphosphate, (18); and myo-inositol 1,

Synthesis of myo-inositol 1,3,4,5-tetraphosphate and myo-inositol 1,3-bisphosphate
Journal of the Chemical Society, Chemical Communications, 1987myo-Inositol 1,3,4,5-tetraphosphate, myo-inositol 3,4-bisphosphate, and myo-inositol 4-phosphate have been prepared via routes in which a key step is a novel, highly regioselective monoalkylation of myo-inositol orthoformate.

The enzymic determination of myo-inositol
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1958An inositol dehydrogenase obtained from myo-inositol-grown Aerobacter aerogenes has been adapted for the determination of myo-inositol in microgram amounts. The other cyclitols and sugars tested do not interfere with this assay, though colchicine exerts a marked inhibitory effect.

myo-Inositol-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexakisphosphate
Phytochemistry, 2003myo-Inositol-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexakisphosphate (Ins P(6)) was first described as an abundant form of phosphorus in plant seeds and other plant tissues and dubbed "phytic acid". Subsequently it was found to be a common constituent in eukaryotic cells, its metabolism a basic component of cellular housekeeping.

myo-Inositol Metabolism in the Neonatal and Developing Rat Fed a myo-Inositol-free Diet
The Journal of Nutrition, 1976Neonatal rats of the Holtzman strain, 6 days of age, were fed a myo-inositol restricted liquid formula by gastric intubation for 10 days, after which they were fed a purified myo-inositol-free diet until they were 72 days old. No differences in weight gain were observed between myo-inositol/100 ml of formula or 150 mg myo-inositol/100 g diet.

Phosphorus, Sulfur, and Silicon and the Related Elements, 1990
Abstract The recent discovery o f the r o l e o f D-myo-inositol-1,4,5 trisphosphate Ins as the second messenger for receptor-mediated Ca2+ mobilization (1) (1,4,5)P3 has generated a great interest in the chemical preparation of myo-inositol phosphates-2 which were only available by enzymatic extraction from bovine brains (°).

Myo-inositol Binding Site of Concanavalin A
Nature New Biology, 1972CONCANAVALIN a agglutinates erythrocytes from various animal species, yeast cells, starch granules and some bacteria1 and it complexes with many other substances which contain specific saccharides2–5. When bound to saccharides of cell surfaces, concanavalin A will return tissue cultures of transformed fibroblasts to normal growth rates6 and inhibit ...

Synthesis of 2-Palmitoyl-Myo-Inositol and 2-Hexadecyl-Myo-Inositol
Glucose is an important source of energy for the body to function effectively. The maintenance of blood glucose concentration within the normal range of 4-6 mM is accomplished by two pancreatic hormones, insulin and glucagon. Inositol glycans (IGs) are a

Synthesis of some carbamates of myo-inositol
Carbohydrate Research, 1992The syntheses are described of the 1-O-carbamoyl (11), 1-O-carbamoyl-2-O-stearoyl (10), 1-O-(acetylcarbamoyl)-2-O-stearoyl (12), 1-O-(heptylcarbamoyl) (13), 2-O-(heptylcarbamoyl) (14) 1,2-di-O-(heptylcarbamoyl) (15), and 1-O-(octadecylcarbamoyl) (16) derivatives of myo-inositol. None of these compounds had significant activity against phospholipase C.
