Conformational studies of myo-inositol phosphates

Carbohydrate Research, 1996
The discovery of the second messenger role of myo-inositol 1,4,5-trisdihydrogenphosphate [Ins(1,4,5)P3] has triggered tremendous interest in investigating the structure, metabolism, and biological roles of inositol phosphates. Although the conformation of phytic acid [(myo-inositol hexakisdihydrogenphosphate), Ins P6] has been the subject of much study,

Desymmetrization of 4,6-diprotected myo-inositol

Chemical Communications, 2013
The asymmetric desymmetrization of 4,6-diprotected myo-inositol derivatives was achieved by using a bifunctional, readily available nucleophilic catalyst. The orthogonally protected products were obtained in 80-99% yield with 90-99% ee. Such structures serve as potential enantiopure building blocks for the synthesis of myo-inositol phosphates.

An enzymatic fluorimetric assay for myo-inositol

Analytical Biochemistry, 1984
An enzymatic assay for myo-inositol (MI) is described. The method is based on the oxidation of MI by NAD+-dependent myo-inositol dehydrogenase, coupled to reoxidation of NADH with oxalacetate and malate dehydrogenase. The resultant malate is measured fluorimetrically.

Myo-inositol transport in Aerobacter aerogenes

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1972
1. 1. Aerobacter aerogenes possesses an inducible transport system for myo-inositol. 2. 2. The myo-inositol transport is an energy requiring process regarding the inhibitions by 2,4-dinitrophenol, azide and cyanide. The process may be accomplished by either active transport or group transfer. 3. 3.

Dietary myo-Inositol and Diabetic Neuropathy

1979
A marked decrease in motor nerve conduction velocities can be demonstrated within days following the spontaneous development of hyperglycemia in man (1,2) or following the induction of experimental diabetes in the rat (3). When insulin therapy is instituted, this abnormality is promptly restored towards normal in both man and rodent.
