Myo-inositol oxygenase from oat seedlings

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 1976
Enzyme preparations from oat seedlings showing the activity of myo-inositol oxygenase (E.C.1.13.99.1) have been described previously. In contrast to myo-inositol oxygenase preparations from other sources, e.g. rat kidney or yeast, the oat enzyme seemed to exhibit a somewhat less stringent activity, acting on other inositols and inositol methyl ethers ...

Myo-inositol transport in Aerobacter aerogenes

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1972
1. 1. Aerobacter aerogenes possesses an inducible transport system for myo-inositol. 2. 2. The myo-inositol transport is an energy requiring process regarding the inhibitions by 2,4-dinitrophenol, azide and cyanide. The process may be accomplished by either active transport or group transfer. 3. 3.

Synthesis of racemic myo-inositol 1,4,5-trismethylphosphonate, myo-inositol 4,5-bismethylphosphonate and myo-inositol 5-methylphosphonate via a phosphinate approach

Tetrahedron Letters, 1992
Abstract Synthesis of the (rac.) myo-inositol phosphate isosteric analogues 1,4,5-trismethylphosphonate, 4,5-bismethylphosphonate, and 5-methylphosphonate was accomplished using a phosphinate approach.

Conformational studies of myo-inositol phosphates

Carbohydrate Research, 1996
The discovery of the second messenger role of myo-inositol 1,4,5-trisdihydrogenphosphate [Ins(1,4,5)P3] has triggered tremendous interest in investigating the structure, metabolism, and biological roles of inositol phosphates. Although the conformation of phytic acid [(myo-inositol hexakisdihydrogenphosphate), Ins P6] has been the subject of much study,

myo-Inositol metabolism in germinating wheat

Planta, 1978
During imbibition, exogenous myo-inositol (MI) was readily introduced into the free MI pool of germinating wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Maximum uptake, 70 μg per caryopsis or 1.5 mg g(-1) of caryopsis, was reached at 0.05 M MI. Movement of free MI within the germinating caryopsis was traced with [2-(3)H]MI by two procedures, uptake by imbibition and ...

Convenient synthesis of 4,6-di-O-benzyl-myo-inositol and myo-inositol 1,3,5-orthoesters

Carbohydrate Research, 2001
Convenient high yielding methods for the preparation of 4,6-di-O-benzyl-myo-inositol, myo-inositol 1,3,5-orthoformate and myo-inositol 1,3,5-orthoacetate, without involving chromatography are described. Myo-inositol was converted to racemic 2,4-di-O-benzoyl-myo-inositol 1,3,5-orthoformate by successive treatment with triethyl orthoformate and benzoyl ...

The enzymic determination of myo-inositol

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1958
An inositol dehydrogenase obtained from myo-inositol-grown Aerobacter aerogenes has been adapted for the determination of myo-inositol in microgram amounts. The other cyclitols and sugars tested do not interfere with this assay, though colchicine exerts a marked inhibitory effect.

Dietary myo-Inositol and Diabetic Neuropathy

1979
A marked decrease in motor nerve conduction velocities can be demonstrated within days following the spontaneous development of hyperglycemia in man (1,2) or following the induction of experimental diabetes in the rat (3). When insulin therapy is instituted, this abnormality is promptly restored towards normal in both man and rodent.
