Serum level of myostatin and type I interferon-inducible gene expression in dermatomyositis patients and its relation to insulin resistance

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Neurology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery
Background Data regarding the relation between serum myostatin level, type I interferon-inducible gene expression and insulin resistance in dermatomyositis patients are limited.

CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated mstnb1 disruption enhances growth in rainbow trout

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract The effects of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/Cas9‐mediated disruption of the myostatin gene (mstnb1) on the growth performance of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) were evaluated. Two specific guide RNAs (gRNAs) targeting the first exon of the target gene were co‐injected into fertilized eggs.

Correlations of serum myostatin and irisin with sarcopenia and osteoporosis in rheumatoid arthritis patients: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesScientific Reports
Myostatin and irisin, the key regulators of muscle metabolism, are myokines secreted by skeletal muscles that significantly influence osteoporosis (OP) and sarcopenia.

Divergent skeletal muscle metabolite exchange in insulin‐like growth factor‐1‐stimulated myotubes and resistance‐exercised human muscle

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 8, Page 3784-3799, 1 August 2026.
Abstract Skeletal muscle hypertrophy requires a substantial nutrient influx for biomass accretion, but global metabolite exchange during growth is poorly characterized. Therefore, we profiled the metabolite uptake and release in insulin‐like growth factor‐1 (IGF‐1)‐stimulated C2C12 myotubes and human muscle 24 h after resistance exercise ...

Mechanical Loading Induces Distinct and Shared Responses in Endothelial and Muscle Cells and Reveals Exercise‐Like Molecular Profiles

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 14, 31 July 2026.
Mechanical loading of human endothelial and muscle cells induced several distinct and shared molecular responses, many of which are commonly observed after exercise in vivo. Both cell types secreted acetate and endothelial cells increased serine synthesis from glucose.

Preptin and Myostatin Independently Increase in Pre-Diabetics and Patients of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2019
The relation between serum preptin, myostatin, insulin, and also homeostatic model assessment-insulin resistance were examined in pre-diabetes persons and newly diagnosed patients with overt type 2 diabetes mellitus.
