Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1980Several 7-substituted derivatives of N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) were prepared and evaluated in the rat fundus serotonin receptor assay and in a behavioral (discriminative stimulus) assay in rats. Both 7-Me- and 5-OMe-7-Me-DMT possess a higher pA2, and 5,7-(OMe)2-DMT a lower pA2, than that of DMT itself.

Life Sciences, 1977Abstract The effect of acute doses of N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) on the synthesis or degradation rates of rat diencephalon norepinephrine and striatal dopamine was estimated by administering 150 μCi L-tyrosine-3,5- 3 H at various times before sacrifice. In all cases DMT, 20 mg/kg, was injected one-half hour before sacrifice.

Effects of N, N-dimethyltryptamine on intracranial self-stimulation in the rat
Life Sciences, 1973Abstract Three rats were injected ip with a series of doses of N, N-dimethyltryptamine and tested in a self stimulation paradigm. Results indicated that higher doses of DMT (2.0 mg/kg and above) produced marked decrements in responding with lower doses having little or no effect.
