Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

2-Amino-4-methylpyridin-1-ium 2-(4-nitrophenyl)acetate

open access: yesIUCrData, 2016
In the title molecular salt, C6H9N2+·C8H6NO4−, the cation is protonated at its pyridine N atom. In the crystal, the anion and cation are connected by weak N—H...O hydrogen bonds, generating an R22(8) ring motif. A pair of N—H...O hydrogen bonds and a C—H.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Crystal structure of ethyl 2-({[(4Z)-3,5-dioxo-1-phenylpyrazolidin-4-ylidene]methyl}amino)acetate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2014
The title compound, C14H15N3O4, is nearly planar, the dihedral angle between the planes of the phenyl and pyrazolidine rings being 1.13 (7) Å, and that between the plane of the pyrazolidine ring and the mean plane of the side chain [C—N—C–C(=O)—O; r.m.s.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

2-Aminopyrimidinium hydrogen sulfate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2011
In the crystal structure of the title compound, C4H6N3+·HSO4−, hydrogen sulfate anions self-assemble through O—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the b axis, while the cations form centrosymmetric pairs via N& ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

2-(3-Oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-1,4-benzothiazin-4-yl)acetamide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
【Abstract】In the title compound, C10H10N2O2S, the thiazine ring approximates to an envelope form with the S atom in the flap position. The amide group attached to the acetate group is almost perpendicular to the mean plane of the thiazine ring [dihedral ...
