Canonical and non‐canonical functions of proteins regulating mitochondrial dynamics in mammalian physiology

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles that continuously remodel their architecture through coordinated cycles of fusion and fission. This review examines the four key GTPases that orchestrate mitochondrial dynamics in mammals: MFN1, MFN2, OPA1, and DRP1.

Saffron aqueous extract effects on paraquat and glyphosate concentration in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) tissues

open access: yesAgricultural &Environmental Letters, Volume 11, Issue 2, December 2026.
Reduced bioaccumulation of PQ and GLY by saffron extract in Common carp (Cyprinus carpio) tissues Abstract Herbicides such as paraquat (PQ) and glyphosate (GLY) pose ecological and public health risks because of their persistence, bioaccumulation, and toxicity to aquatic organisms. This study evaluated whether aqueous saffron extract (Crocus sativus L.)

Effects of Fomepizole on Acetaminophen Oxidative Metabolism: A Randomized, Crossover Study in Human Volunteers

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 120, Issue 3, Page 795-805, September 2026.
Acetaminophen overdose can cause liver injury. Hepatotoxicity results from N‐acetyl‐p‐benzoquinone imine (NAPQI), generated via cytochrome P450‐2E1 (CYP2E1). Acetylcysteine is the mainstay of treatment, but efficacy may be reduced with delayed administration or large ingestions.

Nitric Oxide in Cancer: Mechanisms, Dual Role, and Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
Nitric oxide exerts concentration‐dependent dual roles in cancer, functioning as either a tumor promoter or suppressor. This review comprehensively examines NO's multifaceted regulation of tumor biology, including S‐nitrosylation signaling, metabolic reprogramming, immunemodulation, and therapy resistance, and highlights emerging therapeutic strategies

Dedicated Endoscopy for Barrett's Oesophagus With Higher Dysplasia Yield May Reduce Seattle Protocol Biopsies: Results From UK Multicentre Study

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, Volume 14, Issue 7, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Dedicated service for Barrett's oesophagus (BO) surveillance may be more effective than conventional service, according to some single centre studies. Objective To determine whether the surveillance of BO through a dedicated service can improve key performance indicators (KPIs), and dysplasia detection rate (DDR) compared with ...

PCK2 Inhibition Reverses Cisplatin Resistance of Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer by Triggering Ferroptosis

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 16, 31 August 2026.
Metabolic enzyme PCK2 is aberrantly upregulated in cisplatin‐resistant NSCLC cells, which inhibits ferroptosis and ultimately facilitates tumor chemoresistance. The small‐molecule inhibitor RGB‐286638 directly binds to the key R454 functional site of PCK2 protein, efficiently inhibits PCK2 expression, and rescues PCK2‐mediated ferroptosis suppression ...
