A Topological Investigation of the Cosmic Web Formation

open access: yesEdinburgh Student Journal of Science
N-body simulations of the evolution of the large-scale structure of the universe (the Cosmic Web) were run while altering attractive gravity laws and initial conditions, in order to infer which properties of the universe are revealed by its current large-

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

The Resonant Remains of Broken Chains from Major and Minor Mergers

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
TESS and Kepler have revealed that practically all close-in sub-Neptunes form in mean-motion resonant chains, most of which unravel on timescales of 100 Myr.

ASSIST: An Ephemeris-quality Test-particle Integrator

open access: yesThe Planetary Science Journal, 2023
We introduce ASSIST, a software package for ephemeris-quality integrations of test particles. ASSIST is an extension of the REBOUND framework and makes use of its IAS15 integrator to integrate test-particle trajectories in the field of the Sun, Moon ...

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Secondary evolution of galaxies investigated by N-body simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In the ΛCDM cosmology, merging is one of the most important physical processes that drives the formation and evolution of galaxies. In the present work, we use N-body techniques to investigate some of currently open issues related to the formation and ...

Multimass schemes for collisionless N-body simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We present a general scheme for constructing Monte Carlo realizations of equilibrium, collisionless galaxy models with known distribution function (DF) f 0.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

N-body models of open clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
N-body simulations of open cluster evolution with primordial binaries are reviewed. In particular, recent results arising from models with initial N in the range of 20000100000 bodies are compared to earlier idealized models with N ~ 2000.

Binary Star Evolution Modules in REBOUNDx

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Close-binary evolution couples Roche lobe overflow (RLOF), common envelope (CE) drag, stellar winds, magnetic braking, and gravitational-wave losses, exchanging mass and angular momentum while reshaping orbits and spins.
