N-Heterocyclic Carbenes in FLP Chemistry
2012The use of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) for the design and construction of frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) is outlined in this review. Stable carbene-borane adducts are briefly discussed, followed by a detailed survey of the reactivity of NHCs, in particular Arduengo-type imidazolin-2-ylidenes, towards B(C6F5)3.

Diaminocyclopropenylidene Organocatalysts: Beyond N‐Heterocyclic Carbenes
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2013Cyclopropenylidene carbenes have been found to be efficient catalysts for the intermolecular Stetter reaction between aromatic aldehydes and α,β-unsaturated ketones. In this transformation, the cyclopropenylidene proved superior to more traditional thiazolium- and triazolium-derived carbenes.

N-Heterocyclic carbenes in gold catalysis
Chemical Society Reviews, 2008The appealing properties of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) as ancillary ligands and the high potential of gold as an organometallic catalyst have made their encounter inevitable. Still in its infancy, NHC-gold catalysis is nevertheless growing rapidly.

Magnesium amido N-heterocyclic carbene complexes
Dalton Transactions, 2008Magnesium dications bind strongly to a tridentate anionic dicarbene ligand L = [N{CH(2)CH(2)(CNCHCHNMes)}(2)] forming dinuclear and trinuclear Mg complexes with some particularly short Mg-C bonds. Treatment of the proligand H(4)LCl(3) with three equivalents of methyl magnesium chloride or benzyl magnesium chloride affords Mg(3)(HL)Cl(6) in high yield ...

Synthesis of N -heterocyclic carbene boranes via silver N -heterocyclic carbene complexes
Polyhedron, 2017Abstract The reaction of N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes of silver with BH3 or BEt3 was investigated. On treatment of IiPr·AgCl (1-AgCl) (IiPr = 1,3-diisopropylimidazol-2-ylidene) with two equivalents of NaBH4-free BH3·THF (purified BH3·THF) in THF at room temperature for 2 h, IiPr·BH3 complex (1-BH3) was obtained in excellent yield (96%).
