Respiration and growth of Paracoccus denitrificans R-1 with nitrous oxide as an electron acceptor
In the nitrogen biogeochemical cycle, the reduction of nitrous oxide (N2O) to N2 by N2O reductase, which is encoded by nosZ gene, is the only biological pathway for N2O consumption.

Nitrous Oxide Generation, Influencing Factors and Emission Reduction in Anaerobic-Anoxic-Oxic Process Wastewater Treatment Plant [PDF]
To achieve the reduction of emissions and control of non-CO2 greenhouse gases in municipal wastewater treatment plants, this study conducted a one-year monitoring of N2O in the A2O process of a large municipal wastewater treatment plant in Beijing.

Photocatalytic Vanadium‐Mediated Amination of Benzene With Hydroxylamine
Photochemical activation of N‐phenylphenothiazine (PPT) enables a selective direct benzene amination with hydroxylamine in the presence of various vanadium catalysts under mild reaction conditions. Spectroscopic and kinetic analyses identify a key vanadium(IV)‐hydroxylamine intermediate, elucidate the crucial roles of the acidic medium, the ...

N2O reduction by Vibrio succinogenes [PDF]
Vibrio succinogenes grew anaerobically at the expense of formate oxidation, with nitrous oxide (N2O) serving a terminal oxidant. N2O was quantitatively reduced to dinitrogen (N2). In the presence of 5 x 10(-2) atm (ca. 5 kPa) of acetylene (C2H2), which inhibits the reduction of N2O, growth of V. succinogenes was completely inhibited.

Low‐Temperature Initiation Enhances HCN and NH3 Formation From Methane and NO Over Pt/Al2O3
Hydrogen cyanide (HCN) was formed from CH4 and NO over Pt/Al2O3 at low temperatures. Increasing NO concentration and optimizing reaction‐start conditions significantly enhanced HCN yield. In situ FTIR and DXAFS measurements revealed that dynamically balancing Pt‑CO and Pt‑CN surface species, particularly their desorption under temperature‑swing ...

Nitrous oxide content and fluxes in Setúbal Bay, Portugal, during upwelling events
To evaluate the influence of upwelling events on nitrous oxide (N2O) levels and sea-air exchange in Setúbal Bay (SW Portugal), measurements of dissolved N2O were carried out from the surface down to 200 m depth in May 2006 and May 2007.

Production of N2O in grass-clover pastures [PDF]
In organic as well as conventional dairy farming, grass-clover pastures is an important component of the cropping system. This is because grass-clover is an excellent cattle fodder, and because clover has the ability of fixing atmospheric N2.

In situ evidence for renitrification in the Arctic lower stratosphere during the polar aura validation experiment (PAVE) [PDF]
In-situ measurements of nitric acid (HNO3), ozone (O3), and nitrous oxide (N2O) were made from the NASA DC-8 during the Polar Aura Validation Experiment in January/February 2005.

ABSTRACT National and supranational institutions are establishing emission trading systems and control schemes in an attempt to manage stakeholders' willingness to engage with regulatory systems and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). Nonetheless, despite the national and supranational focus on carbon neutrality, little research has been centered ...
