TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

antiporter gene in response to water and salinity stress in grapevine rootstocks

open access: yes, 2012
Grapevine rootstocks belonging to different species of Vitis differ in their response to stress. Vines of rootstocks 110R and 1613C were subjected to different salt and water stresses individually and in combination.

Quantitative RNA-seq Analysis Unveils Osmotic and Thermal Adaptation Mechanisms Relevant for Ectoine Production in Chromohalobacter salexigens

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Quantitative RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) and the complementary phenotypic assays were implemented to investigate the transcriptional responses of Chromohalobacter salexigens to osmotic and heat stress.

Na+ versus Cl− transport in the intact killifish after rapid salinity transfer

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 2003
Much of the early research elucidating the general mechanisms of euryhalinity was performed on the common killifish. More recently, its opercular epithelium with abundant mitochondria-rich cells has proven to be a powerful model for analyzing the mechanisms of active NaCl transport under Ussing conditions in vitro (i.e., with isotonic saline on both ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Salt overly sensitive 1 (SOS1) gene expression can be regulated via Azospirillum brasilense Sp7 in wheat seedlings under saline condition

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2018
Salinity stress reduces plant growth via failure of physiological processes mainly due to the abundance of Na+ ion. Salt overly sensitive (SOS) signaling pathway is considered as an important component of Na+/K+ homeostasis system in plants, especially ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Exogenous 2-(3,4-Dichlorophenoxy) triethylamine alleviates salinity stress in maize by enhancing photosynthetic capacity, improving water status and maintaining K+/Na+ homeostasis

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2020
Background Soil salinity restricts plant growth and productivity. 2-(3,4-dichlorophenoxy) triethylamine (DCPTA) can alleviate salinity stress in plants. However, the mechanism of DCPTA-mediated salinity tolerance has not been fully clarified. We aimed to

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...
