NAD+ metabolism governs the proinflammatory senescence-associated secretome

open access: yesNature Cell Biology, 2019
Cellular senescence is a stable growth arrest that is implicated in tissue ageing and cancer. Senescent cells are characterized by an upregulation of proinflammatory cytokines, which is termed the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP).

Coronavirus infection and PARP expression dysregulate the NAD metabolome: An actionable component of innate immunity

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2020
Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) superfamily members covalently link either a single ADP-ribose (ADPR) or a chain of ADPR units to proteins using NAD as the source of ADPR.

Unusual Enzymatic Hydrolysis of NAD by Solubilized Form of NAD+ Glycohydrolase.

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2002
Using solubilized form (sNADase) of membrane-bound porcine brain NAD(+) glycohydrolase (pNADase), the NADase-catalyzed hydrolysis and transglycosidation reactions of NAD (1) were examined. Unexpectedly, products in the reactions were found to be nicotinamide (5'-O-diphosphono)-beta-D-ribofuranoside (4) and adenosine (5).

NAD Kinases Use Substrate-assisted Catalysis for Specific Recognition of NAD [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2007
Here we describe the crystal structures of the NAD kinase (LmNADK1) from Listeria monocytogenes in complex with its substrate NAD, its product NADP, or two synthesized NAD mimics. We identified one of the NAD mimics, di-adenosine diphosphate, as a new substrate for LmNADK1, whereas we showed that the closely related compound di-5'-thioadenosine is a ...

Aerial Bombing Crater Identification: Exploitation of Precise Digital Terrain Models

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2020
Places of past conflicts and persistent objects that reflect such events often attract the attention of archaeological prospection which facilitates the construction of conflict narratives. Field prospection as a precise method for localization of aerial

Transitions among the diverse oscillation quenching states induced by the interplay of direct and indirect coupling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We report the transitions among different oscillation quenching states induced by the interplay of diffusive (direct) coupling and environmental (indirect) coupling in coupled identical oscillators. This coupling scheme was introduced by Resmi {\it et al}. [Phys. Rev. E, 84, 046212 (2011)] as a general scheme to induce amplitude death (AD) in nonlinear

Honeyboost: Boosting honeypot performance with data fusion and anomaly detection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
With cyber incidents and data breaches becoming increasingly common, being able to predict a cyberattack has never been more crucial. The ability of Network Anomaly Detection Systems (NADS) to identify unusual behavior makes them useful in predicting such attacks. However, NADS often suffer from high false positive rates.

Case report: Combined acute revascularization in early bilateral carotid stent occlusion

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2022
IntroductionThe introduction of a carotid stent involves the use of effective antiplatelet therapy to maintain stent patency. We present a case report of combined acute revascularization in a patient with occlusion in recently introduced stents of both ...

Architecture Disentanglement for Deep Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Understanding the inner workings of deep neural networks (DNNs) is essential to provide trustworthy artificial intelligence techniques for practical applications. Existing studies typically involve linking semantic concepts to units or layers of DNNs, but fail to explain the inference process.

Neutral gas outflows in nearby [U]LIRGs via optical NaD feature [PDF]

open access: yesA&A 590, A125 (2016), 2016
We studied the properties of the neutral gas in a sample of 38 local [U]LIRGs, which mainly covers the less explored LIRG luminosity range. This study is based on the analysis of the spatially integrated and spatially resolved spectra of the NaD feature obtained with the VIMOS/VLT-IFS.
