Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Named Data for Mobile AdHoc Networks

open access: yes, 2016
For the needs of future Internet, many researchers are proposing a paradigm shift towards a new information-centric approach. The Named-Data Networking (NDN) is one these proposals. Instead of addresses, packets should use only names, either expressing interest on specific information or naming the data content carried in.

Network-Layer Trust in Named-Data Networking [PDF]

open access: yesACM SIGCOMM Computer Communication Review, 2014
In contrast to today's IP-based host-oriented Internet architecture, Information-Centric Networking (ICN) emphasizes content by making it directly addressable and routable. Named Data Networking (NDN) architecture is an instance of ICN that is being developed as a candidate next-generation Internet architecture.

NDNTP: A Named Data Networking Time Protocol [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Network, 2020
Named Data Networking (NDN) architectural features, including multicast data delivery, stateful forwarding, and in-network data caching, have shown promise for applications such as video streaming and file sharing. However, collaborative applications, requiring a multi-producer participation introduce new NDN design challenges.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

A novel software-defined networking controlled vehicular named-data networking for trustworthy emergency data dissemination and content retrieval assisted by evolved interest packet

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2020
Vehicle ad hoc network is the key technology for a future Internet of vehicles and intelligent transport system. However, involvement of vast number of vehicles in Internet of vehicles limits the performance of vehicle ad hoc network.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
