Chemistry and Processing of Nanostructured Materials [PDF]
Nanostructured materials can be formed through the sol-gel polymerization of inorganic or organic monomer systems. For example, a two step polymerization of tetramethoxysilane (TMOS) was developed such that silica aerogels with densities as low as 3 kg/m{sup 3} ({approx} two times the density of air) could be achieved.

A computational model for regulation of nanoscale glucan exposure in Candida albicans. [PDF]
Candida albicans is a virulent human opportunistic pathogen. It evades innate immune surveillance by masking an immunogenic cell wall polysaccharide, β-glucan, from recognition by the immunoreceptor Dectin-1.

Processing of bulk nanostructured ceramics [PDF]
Abstract Conventional ceramic forming routes have been adapted for the processing of ∼16 nm, 3 mol% yttria-stabilised zirconia nanopowders leading to the production of ∼99% dense nanostructured ceramics that display average grain sizes as fine as ∼65 nm.

Density functional theoretical investigations on various nanostructural zeolite surfaces
Through density functional calculations, the Bronsted acidities on various nanostructural ZSM-5 zeolite surfaces were studied as well as the hydrogen exchanging processes with adsorbed H2O monomer or dimer.

Processing for nanostructured alloys.
Nanostractural alloys have attracted growing interest because of their potential properties. The recent studies on nanostructured alloys imply the reality of alloy designing without restriction by the equilibrium phase diagram. We review recent results in new alloys developed by mechanical alloying technique and emphasize their potentiality as future ...

An entropy‐driven interface self‐assembly strategy is proposed for the controllable synthesis of mesoporous N,S‐dual‐doped carbon nanoreactors. The N,S‐dual‐doping sites optimized the *OOH adsorption, boosting the 2e− selectivity, while the favorable mesostructure accelerated O2 enrichment.

LASER SYNTHESIS AND PROCESSING OF COMPOSITE NANOSTRUCTURES
The present work reports the fabrication of porous composite ZnO/noble metal (Ag, Au) nanostructures using ps-pulsed laser deposition at atmospheric pressure. The PLD grown samples are ns-laser annealed, which led to a surface modification and formation of nanoparticles and NP’s aggregates.
