Influence of the phase and elemental compositions and defect structure on the physicomechanical properties and tribotechnical characteristics of nanostructural Ti-Hf-Si-N coatings [PDF]
A new approach to preparing superhard nanostructural Ti–Hf–Si–N coatings with high physico mechanical performance is developed and tested. Samples with Ti–Hf–Si–N nanocoatings obtained under different deposition conditions were investigated using ...

Chemistry and Processing of Nanostructured Materials [PDF]
Nanostructured materials can be formed through the sol-gel polymerization of inorganic or organic monomer systems. For example, a two step polymerization of tetramethoxysilane (TMOS) was developed such that silica aerogels with densities as low as 3 kg/m{sup 3} ({approx} two times the density of air) could be achieved.

NANOSTRUCTURAL PROCESSES OF MELTING, CRYSTALLIZATION AND MODIFYINGS OF METALS
It is shown that melting, crystallization and modifying of metals are difficult nanostructural processes. The nanocrystals and atoms of metals, the centers of crystallization of dendrites, surface-active elements, gases modifying elements, poorly soluble

Radiation-induced nanostructures: Formation processes and applications [PDF]
Radiation-induced nanostructure formation is ubiquitous. It is routinely used in lithography employing photons and masks, or in the form of focused electron beams following a maskless approach for pattern definition in a radiation-sensitive resist, also commonly known as electron beam lithography.

Rigid fixed‐ethylene‐linked PBI membrane stabilizes ion‐transport channels, enabling high ionic conductivity and durable alkaline Zn─Fe flow batteries. ABSTRACT Alkaline zinc–iron redox flow batteries (Zn─Fe FBs) are promising candidates for developing high‐voltage and cost‐effective grid‐scale energy storage systems.

Frictional behavior of talc-calcite mixtures [PDF]
Faults involving phyllosilicates appear weak when compared to the laboratory-derived strength of most crustal rocks. Among phyllosilicates, talc, with very low friction, is one of the weakest minerals involved in various tectonic settings.

Bismuth nanosheets integrated with nitrogen‐doped carbon nanoleaves are constructed via a 2D‐on‐2D heterointerface engineering strategy. The resulting BiNS/NCL electrode delivers high chloride adsorption capacity, fast kinetics, and stable cyclability. A built‐in electric field at the heterointerface promotes chloride electrosorption and stabilizes the
