Biomimetic Synthesis of Antimalarial Naphthoquinones [PDF]
The total synthesis of naphthoquinone natural products isolated from the Bignoniaceae plant family is described. Pinnatal, isopinnatal, sterekunthals A and B, pyranokunthones A and B, and anthrakunthone have been prepared along the lines of a biosynthetic proposal involving pericyclic reactions as key steps.

Activity of Some Plant and Fungal Metabolites towards Aedes albopictus (Diptera, Culicidae)
Aedes albopictus (Skuse) is a widespread mosquito, a vector of important human arboviruses, including Chikungunya, Dengue and Zika. It is an extremely difficult species to control even for the onset of resistances to chemicals insecticides, therefore ...

Protic molecules containing strong O─H or N─H bonds typically resist hydrogen‐atom abstraction because of the high reactivity of the resulting heteroatom‐centered radicals. However, association of the protic molecules with redox‐active Lewis acids can provide powerful hydrogen‐atom donors or proton‐coupled‐electron‐transfer reagents.
