Hybrid integrated narrow-linewidth semiconductor lasers
Applied Optics, 2023Integrated narrow-linewidth lasers are the key devices in compact coherent optical systems of metrology, sensing, and optical microwave generation. Here, we demonstrate a hybrid integrated laser based on an optical negative feedback scheme.

Narrow-linewidth unstable resonator
Optics Letters, 1988We describe the use of an asymmetric feedback ring in an unstable resonator to obtain arbitrarily narrow-linewidth radiation across the full available aperture. We demonstrate its use with an electric-discharge XeCl laser to produce single-line radiation with a linewidth of 0.15 cm−1.

Narrow linewidth quantum cascade laser
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2020A narrow linewidth quantum cascade laser was obtained by optical feedback locking to a high finesse linear cavity with locking bandwidth larger than 5 MHz, resulting in an instantaneous linewidth at mHz levels.

Wavelength-tunable narrow-linewidth gaseous Raman laser
Applied Optics, 2021Gaseous Raman lasers cover a range of wavelengths but lack wavelength tunability. Here, a 1 c m − 1 linewidth 532 nm laser was used as a pump laser, and with a narrow-linewidth seed laser injection, a narrow-linewidth first Stokes (S1) Raman ...

Future Narrow Linewidth Lasers
Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2015We describe the challenges and solutions for future narrow linewidth lasers with small footprint. We fabricated DR laser array based narrower linewiedth TLS. We introduce ITXA of a co-packaged DFB array based TLS and InP-based modulator.

Narrow linewidth unstable resonators
Annual Meeting Optical Society of America, 1988We have previously demonstrated that a feedback ring in an unstable resonator can be useful in providing narrow bandwidth radiation across the full available aperture of the resonator. In this configuration the light traveling in the forward direction in the ring passes through frequency-narrowing etalons while it is collimated and is then coupled back

Narrow linewidth single frequency microfiber laser
Optics Letters, 2012A compact 2 kHz linewidth single frequency microfiber ring laser is demonstrated. Microfiber, with a diameter of 1.88 μm, which is drawn from an Er(3+)/Yb(3+) co-doped phosphate glass fiber, serves as the gain medium. By using this microfiber, a double-knot resonator with a total length of 1.75 mm is constructed.

Modulatable narrow-linewidth semiconductor lasers
Applied Physics Letters, 1988We find that using the technique of optical feedback locking, to narrow semiconductor linewidths, does not sacrifice the ability to modulate the laser’s frequency via the injection current. The frequency of a laser is stabilized to a separate Fabry–Perot reference cavity using resonant optical feedback and can be modulated efficiently at frequencies ...

Integrated-optic, narrow-linewidth laser
Applied Physics Letters, 1986We report the demonstration of the single-frequency and narrow-linewidth (<100 kHz) operation of an extended cavity laser consisting of a Ti:LiNbO3 single-mode waveguide circuit and an InGaAsP waveguide gain medium. A parallel coupled cavity, electro-optic elements for tuning the resonant frequencies of the cavities, and an external phase ...

Narrow linewidth tunable semiconductor laser
2016 Compound Semiconductor Week (CSW) [Includes 28th International Conference on Indium Phosphide & Related Materials (IPRM) & 43rd International Symposium on Compound Semiconductors (ISCS), 2016A full-C band tunable laser equipped with an air-gap suspended waveguide structure for efficient thermal heater tuning is described. It is shown that the monolithic tunable laser can simultaneously meet the requirements for the output power, side-mode suppression ratio, and spectral linewidth for 16-QAM coherent communication system.
